I have a 97 2wd 3.4l 4runner. I am just about done with my swap. Tranny is in and front diff is in. Just gotta finish my wiring and replace the front spindle. Also installed a 4.30 elocker, got that wired up too. This will also be my build thread and will be updated as I a go along.

Thanks, you were a great help. I will post a wiring diagram for the transmission. And if I get time in the future I will make a more detailed write of whats need and what to do.

Okay, over the weekend, I got the front diff in, spindle, cv axle, and wiring in




Also redid the dash to the limited woodgrain. Scored these from the local junkyard







Also tried to do front diff fluid but the nut was stuck on. Eventually got it off.

The wiring is almost done. Its all done. Just wanna clean it up because I used thermostat wiring to test but will use multi strand wiring instead.



Elocker swap I did a month ago

Finally Got my diff locker to work a few weeks ago. Had to make a custom harness. But it works. Also got my Diff light button to light.

Ripped out the old vinyl front seats and replaced it with a heated and powered from a limited 02.

Decided my floor was dirty, so ordered a new carpet and replaced that. Also did the 99+ center console swap. Made holes for the buttons. Now I got a whopping 4 cup holders in the front area. Also am wiring in the heat portion of my seats.

Get the center console and the lever. Everything will bolt in. Then you gotta figure out what to do with the ECT, rear window, and security. Some people change the center dash too because it has the buttons there but I wanna have 4 cup holders.

I have some questions about you're power seat swap i also have a 97 and am trying to put heated leather power seats in mine from an 02. I was wondering what you did to get the power seats working.?

I also have a quick comment about the 99 center console. if one pulls the lever from a 99 it will fit right into a 97 in the new position?
