Diamond Audio Speakers

Anyone familiar with Diamond Car Audio speakers and amps? A local shop is telling me that I will be much happier with them than the Infinity KAPPAs that I was going to use. It sounds like my budget will limit me to their D-3's or D-6's.

I know sound quality is very subjective. I am really looking for any insight on quality and durability of the Diamond product in comparison to Infinity.

Either the shop is trying to sell you their house brand or just trying to upsell you in general. If you can afford the high end Infinity's vs. low-mid end Diamonds, go with the Infinity's. They're definitely a good brand and you probably will be just as happy with them as you would with the Diamonds. My .02.

Kappa's are great speakers. There's better no doubt, but they are very good.

I have both Infinity and Diamond. I have a set of the Infinity 6.1 Perfect and a set of Diamond S600s Hex series. The Diamonds will give you a lot more mid bass than the Infinity speakers. The Infinity speakers are a good buy and sound good, but my personal opinion is that any speaker in the Diamond "Hex" line will sound and outperform the Infinity. I have also ran JL Audio XR series speakers and they are absolutely fantastic! If you go to www.woofersetc.com you can find about anything for a better price than you will at your local dealer. I have purchased pretty much everything for my system through E-Bay - MUCH BETTER PRICES!

What I did when I was purchasing stuff for my 4Runner was I found the exact model # of the parts I wanted then searched for those items on E-Bay. You won't find a better deal anywhere else (than E-Bay). There are actual sites within E-bay that specialize only in car audio. Just to name a few - Indoaudio, Dimension Audio, Dynamic Auto Sound - Good Luck

Some of the sites that I have looked at (i.e. Crutchfield) say that a 6.5" speaker will not fit in the back doors of a 4th gen. Is that due to the depth or diameter?

Interestingly, Infinity's site says that the 6.5" Kappas will fit, but Crutchfield's site says that they won't. Anyone know which is correct? Thanks!

i have diamond comp. on my 05 runner and a friend has infinity kappa comp. in his pathfinder we installed them 2 yrs ago together, my still sound great his, da right side blew and we both listen to da same music and niether blast it. also to install them u need to make a bkrt of some sought for da tweeters i made it out of mdf wood

You can fit 6 1/2 in the front and rear, just slight modification to the stock speaker bracket. Also, the tweeter mount for the front is very easy to make. Just remove the stock tweeter and trace the outline of it on to a piece of 1/4" MDF then cut it out with a jigsaw. BTW, Crutchfield has pretty high prices and they are very conservative when it comes to what fits and does not fit.

I'm running JL Audio XR Coax in the rear. Here are a couple pictures of the Diamonds Installed up front. I made my own tweeter mount and mounted it to the stock bracket.

For the speaker I used a 6x9 to 6 1/2 mounting plate.

I don't like to install my crossovers inside the door due to the possibility of moisture getting into them. I placed my front and rear crossovers under the drivers and passenger seat. It's much easier to loosen a few bolts to the front seat to adjust the crossovers if needed (taking the door apart can be a pain!). Both the JL Audio and Diamond Audio crossovers are programmable. Here is a picture of them installed:
