Rob, great photos! I love the boxer pics. Even though we didn't get too far, my family still had fun. Kristine even said she wants to do the next run, even if its after the baby is born, she's a real trooper!

But hey im glad every body still had a good time even tho we didnt get to do alot of wheeling how we was supose to and when we partd ways we found a pretty good trail where there was a nice hill climb my buddy showd us n he said it goes in deeper so maybe we have to go explore it wen theres a bit more snow becuz that part didnt have any
nice meeting everyone n there familys too:biggrin1:

How did the 1st gen do up there? At first glance I'd say mine is comparable, but I don't know if you're running lockers or not. The last time I went snow wheeling was out at Stonyford... I handled my own with some struggling, but the snow was only a foot or so deep.
I've been wanting to check out trails up in that area, preferrably during the dry season first. Are they challenging enough in the summer to make it fun?
I'm a little out of the game... most of the guys I went to school with sold off their 4x4s and, like me, have been focusing more on work. I'm trying to get a feel for local 4Runner/4x4 clubs (I'm in Vacaville).

Uhmm, if I remember right the 1st gen didn't do that bad. He got stuck because he had to make room for the Jeeps passing through, otherwise he held up with everyone else okay. A little sliding on the ice uphill, but held in with us.

Yeah he did pretty well. I'd say if he was on some 32 m/t's aired down in 4lo he would've done a lot better. He was running some somewhat bald a/t's. He also had really low clearance. Like Paul said, he was fine til those jeeps pushed a couple of us out of the way to get by. That snow was just so soft everyone just sunk.
I haven't been on any of those trails we went on where there wasn't any snow but I know for sure I'll be headed up to high lakes this summer. I loved that trip, pics in my build thread. Really fun trails, challenging sections, great camping spots right on the lake, pick one, there are I think 7 different lakes lol.

lol I saw the pic on the hill with, what looked like, a buddy pushing from behind. Must be really steep, or really icy! I appreciate the invite, I should confess I was hoping these events were free-to-join soirees

hahaha that was the very beginning of the road. From the second our tires touched that black ice we all started spinning. There was a lady in a ford (i think) with a trailer in front of us and she immediately turned around. That's where we aired down.

Yeah... those Jeeps :lasercannon: jk I'm not a total Jeep hater.
I'm running fresh 32in BFG A/T. They seem like great tires for dry wheeling, but I haven't tried them in snow or mud.
Thanks for the swift response guys! Hopefully we can do a local run one of these days, or even just a meet somewhere. Y'all have good lookin' trucks that I'd like to check out.

Your just around the corner from me, I'm in Suisun.
My 2nd gen did fine and I'm only on 31's (for now) you just have to pick the right lines, and not try to drive above your or the vehicles ability.

I would like to do another snow trip! Just hopefully someone will bring ladders with them...

Oh I hear ya on that! I prefer not getting stuck, but thats the risk we run. I'll feel better once I can install my winch. I drew up plans on CAD for a plate bumper that integrates with the Trail-Gear winch plate... but the fabricator I submitted the plans to has not gotten back to me. Winch, auxilary lighting, and formidable tow points are all waiting for someone to shear cut some 3/16steel pour moi. I have a light duty welder that should make do, but I'm not cutting all of that out with a dang hand grinder. I'm horrible with cutting straight lines.
The TrailGear winch saddle plate and winch itself have been sitting on my shelf for a little over a year now
