Did anyone get modesta coating for their 5th gen?

Looking to hear feedback / gauge on prices if you're willing to share with us. I'm interested in adding modesta coating to my Limited after a long roadtrip where I ended up getting few road chips on the front...with the winter coming up with the snow, I decided to look into protection for the paint.

I reached out to several shops and awaiting callbacks but it seems like the average is close to 1.5k without a direct quote for a 4Runner here in Northern VA area.

Does anyone have experience with modesta coating or at least positive experiences with shops that may do a different kind of coating that's just as good as modesta?

Isn't going to prevent rock chips, if that's what you're after.

Nah I'm more concerned about loose gravel and door dings, things of that nature...highly doubt this truck will see extreme off-roading where rock crawling is involved unless I'm heading to a cabin deep in the woods!

Thanks for sharing prices with me. Did you end up changing your mind on getting protection in the end?

20MY Pro will be delivered in 2 weeks - will drive it for a week or two then decide. Will likely go ahead and do Modesta or Cquartz Pro.

I didn't do it on the 18 Pro because I knew I was selling it at the two year mark.

No brand of ceramic coating is going to protect your paint from loose gravel , door dings or any hard object hitting your paint.
Ceramic coating helps prevent micro marring and thats about it.. If a bird takes a dump on your hood and it sits in the sun all day, Ill guarantee you will have etched paint.

Spend your money on Xpel or Suntek PPF, then buy Cquartz or G Techniq and coat it yourself. Spending a 1000-2000 on ceramic coating is the biggest con job going... your paying for paint correction

Sounds like you want more of a clear bra. They make a bunch of different cuts for the truck.
I had it on my Tundra, which saved it so much since the aerodynamics is like a bacon wrapped brick.
I have it on my m3, since its very low. I also have various panels covered for kick up off the sticky tires.
The 4 runner has the half bikini it think. Its great. No chips. My guy even does the headlights.
All of the film is Xpel ultimate.

I also have Gyeon on the M3 and CQ Quartz (euro or something) on the 4runner. Basically a long term wax. It feels like it does something extra, but you still need to wash it and reload the coating every so often.
My detail guy does all the heavy lifting for me.
I go about as far as sonax and then give him a call.

All said, i would do film again and a ceramic coat again. Fm especially if you will keep your car 5 years plus.

I have Xpel on 2 different 5th gens now and love how it protect the front end. I also have it on the panels behind the tires and an oval under each door handle. It works incredibly well and is worth the money. Make sure you get an experienced applicator.

I have CQ Quartz UK on the paint and it’s fantastic too. BUT, like others have said, it will NOT protect from getting chips. This protection is to slow down/prevent oxidation. The material I got was expensive. If you do it yourself, to do it right, is labor intensive. I had mine a week and the applicator who does high end sports cars, had intense lightning on each inch and used a clay bar to remove any spec of imperfection. That was what I wanted and paid accordingly. It’s now a year old and it still looks fantastic. The warranty on mine says that I have to come back annually to renew it.

I do it myself. For that much money you can buy all the equipment and product need for 1/2 of the price and be able to do 5 cars at least with the product.

1. Clean with a soap that removes all waxes and oils. Soap canon and bucket with the right cleaning sponge
2. Clay. Any new car has embedded partials from manufacturing, shipping, transport and the dealer. It can be shocking
3. 1-2 stages of polishing with a cutting compound with a random professional performance polished
4. Final fine polish
5. Ceramic coating on paint
6. Let it set 24 hours
7. Buff in a glaze or sealant. Yes, ceramic can be improved and extend its life by adding a sealant on top once a year
8. Use a compatible detail spray after a good cleaning
9. Ceramic coating made for plastic is a good idea as well.

Lots of great options out there. Either for one stop shopping or just a great education on how to do each step, tools and product needed I would check out Chemical Guys products and videos

I rarely need to even use soap, the surface is so slick I just use pressured water, dry with a detailing towel and sometimes detail spray. Even bugs just spray off. Also used the ceramic and sealant on my Expel mask (full front, hood, scoop, A pillars, top of roof, in front and behind wheel wells, headlights, under ladder)

Do everything up to and including the clay and paint polishing before you have a mask installed. Then after the mask do your coatings after cleaning thoroughly again, I talking super clean before ceramic. There are prep sprays for this.

I have several cheap shops lights hanging in my garage for better light. Working on whatever, cars, or detailing. Good light is key. And yeah, it is a lot of work but gratifying, then you know it is done right and you can maintain it pretty easy for years
