Did I damage my 4Runner?

So I was cycling from 4Hi to 4Lo today to keep the parts moving around. I switched from 4Hi to 4Lo while in neutral and the 4Lo light kept on blinking. Not sure why, but I then thew it into drive before the light became solid and it made an awful grinding noise until I put it back in neutral and into 4Hi again. I then realized that I didn't wait for the 4Lo light to stop blinking. Scared the crap out of me. The whole thing lasted about 5 seconds.

Did I do any major damage? I drove for a minute and then tried it again, and it immediately went into 4Lo, no problems at all. Just want to make sure I'm ok and didn't do any major damage to my 4Runner!

Thanks for any input on this. I'm not sure exactly what was grinding, so I think that's what's scaring me the most...

It's a 2007 v6 4x4...
