OK so I am in the current process of taking care of some overdue maintenance issues. I have a 2000 SR5 4 runner, V6 with 122K on it. I have always paid to have stuff done despite being somewhat mechanical and willing to do it, but now I'm doing the work.. I got new spark plugs, the wires were in great shape, new battery, new tranny fluid, changed the oil of course, will be flushing the coolant this weekend, am going to have the timing belt done in 2 weeks when a friend of mine is free to help, belts are good and I changed the fuel filter today for the FIRST time. Yes 122K and the original filter.
It took me about 45 minutes since I am a newbie, but I think i got it. My question is, when I first put it in one end of it was leaking. I did NOT use a torque wrench, I just did it by hand and tightened it until it quick leaking. I drove it down the road about a mile and it still was not leaking, so am I good? I will keep an eye on it of course, but want to make sure. I guess it either works or it doesn't right?
Thanks!
