Did my Backup Camera Finally Die?

The backup camera has not been working on my head unit for the past three weeks on my 2014 Trail Edition.

I bought it used in 2020 and the backup camera has intermittently stopped working from early on, but after a few uses it would always come back to life. I searched the forum for possible answers, but it seems all the other questions were geared towards the intermittent issue.

Any guidance or ideas? The rest of the head unit works just fine. It just goes totally black when in reverse.

Could be a bad wire or dead camera. Sounds like the head unit is okay. Trace the wires and look for damage or gust get a new camera and see if it works, if not its the wiring.

Check for loose connections behind the head unit and at the connections in the rear hatch.

I have a 2014 Trail with this issue as well. When my kids slam my cargo door closed, sometimes my camera stops working. If i open the rear hatch and wiggle the wiring harness that runs from the roof to the top of the door, it comes back on. I'm assuming I have a cracked wire somewhere in that connection. I'll be taking mine apart in the spring to investigate but might be something you wanna check as well.
