did toyota keep the seat mounts constant in the 5th gen?

I'm going to assume the seat mounts in the floor will be the same in all 5th gens. but also do the heated power seats in limiteds get a different wiring harness? I wanted a limited, but going offroad is more important so I got a slightly used SR5 with some goodies. but I do wanna get rid of the dumb seats, especially since 1 has a hole. I want power seats, leather, and heated seats. so I was thinking about getting some out of a wrecked limited. but is there a harness already in there? I'm guessing Toyota uses 1 main harness package for all trim levels of the 4runner.

I'm not sure about that. I have an SR5 premium (both seats power - fake leather - no memory). I was told the Limited was different for the memory seats, but that could be just the the 'memory module'.

The base wiring harness is the same for all of them.
Many on this board claim every one is built to order and different, but seriously you would loose the efficiency of the assembly line process to build them that way. I don't believe for a minute that they are built different. Remember Toyota is the company that uses the same parts on multiple models whenever possible, for as many years as possible.. I once had a Celica that used the same exact door handle trim as my 1st 4runner.

The difference is in the pigtails and modules that are added after it moves farther down the line. Heated seats for example have a different pigtail to accommodate the switches in the center console (plus a couple different modules mounted under the seats are added in.) . One pigtail has just the connection for the rear window, the other pigtail has 3 connections, one for the rear window and 2 more for the heat switches.

They will bolt up fine. The wiring connections will not be there but it’s not a huge deal. Once you figure out what wire does what you can supply relay switched power and make it work easily.

Just gonna take some elbow grease.

I think ive given up on this especially since its not gonna be hard to fix the hole in my seat. power, leather, and heated seats would be nice but not that important. but thanks again everyone.

Umm, I would like to chime in here before [MENTION=275323]bradze[/MENTION] buys seats from a limited to find they won't work in the SR5. I don't want to be a killjoy, but I want to prevent a large purchase and larger disappointment later on.

[MENTION=67802]nglayton[/MENTION] is right in that past Toyota's from the 80's, 90's and early 2000's did parts share, and to an extent they still do with certain vehicles, Prado to the 4Runner etc. He is also correct that between and base and premium trim, the difference is in the sub-harness and modules added later down the line. That being said, there are some connectors that are only on the main harness. Here is why the limited seats are a no-go.

Firstly, there are THREE different base wiring harnesses for the 5th Gen 4Runner, regardless of whether it is a premium or not. The SR5, the TRD, and the Limited. They are absolutely different, and it does matter what dash harness you have if you want to add things from other trims. Toyota did not add anything that did not need to be there for other trims. Trust me I have been trying to circumvent this problem in a few areas.

The limited seats will mount into an SR5, and you might have the power adjustments work, but you will not have heated or cooled seats. The limited seat control is off a pigtail under the HVAC control, and it is not there in the TRD or SR5 Trims, nor is the requisite dash wiring between the junction blocks to the seat connectors coming out of the floor. The limited seat frames and cushions are different too to accommodate the blower and ducting inside of them.

I will state that if you want power and heated seats in your base SR5, find an SR5 Premium. This will literally be an easy swap to do, just swap seats, and everything will work. I added the premium heated seats to my base Sr5 when I did the leather swap, and they worked.

Just wanted to provide some insight

Unless he wants leather seats, in which case he needs to look for a limited.

Even if I get leather in my 4Runner I might use this company. I want an off-road with a sunroof but want cooled seats and I don’t want the limited. Black leather with red is earths would look damn sexy in the 4Runner.
