Hi,
Having destroyed my Ford explorer (which doubtless you are all pleased to hear, as I am) I would very much like to get a Toyota 4runner. Living up here in Canada, we have a govt which refuses to allow the import of modern (anything less than 15 year old) diesel vehicles' so to get a diesel suv I am limited to a Ford GM p.o.s with their huge 5 litre plus diesel engines.
The wife will not let me have a Japanese import as they are right-hand drives (despite the fact that we both grew up in the UK so are used to that driving position) and our wonderful ICBC (provincial insurance monopoly) is starting to make noises about increased premiums for right- hand drives....
So I was wondering at the feasibility of purchasing a good condition 95ish 4runner (gas) and droppping a 3 litre toyota diesel into it (want to stay clear of the 2.5 as I hear a great deal about head problems)....is this possible? Is it a case of a straight swop or are there a myriad of technical problems...also can anyone suggest where I might get a decent diesel unit in N. America to perform such a task (if possible).
Any thoughts appreciated
