Diff lock, susp, exhaust questions...

Hey All,

New to the forum, but certainly not Toyotas...Can anyone send me the link to where the write up is for the Diff lock, grey wire mod on the 4 runners? Found the Tacoma one but not for the 4runners.

Secondly,

With the rear window rolled down, the exhaust smell comes in the window...has anyone played with exhaust changes, modifications, or rear window deflector to help eliminate this?

last one:

rear airbag set up? WHat have you tried, firestone is the norm, but I saw a cheap $69 on ebay for a different style? Thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

I had a nice link for the grey wire mod for you, but the link isn't working for some reason. If it comes back up, then I will post it.

I still have stock exhaust and have never heard of anyone having success getting rid of the exhaust smell by modifying the exhaust. I have found, however, that having all the other windows down helps immensely. I never drive with the back window down unless all others are down too.

I have heard that having the rear spoiler fixes the exhaust issue. I have the the spoiler and have never had problems

When I have the stock exhaust system I always open my rear window and I don't have that problem and I don't have rear spoiler. Do you have the exhaust end at the rear or the side like the stock?......went I change my exhaust system it came with rear end tip. I have that exhaust smell coming in went I opened the rear window.

If all the windows are down I do not smell the exhaust so much. the current exhaust is stock mount and stock side exit. I thought about dumping the tailpipe in front of the rear wheel...

interesting how the rear deflector helps some but not others.

It all comes down to my dog that I run in the back and he sticks his head out, I don't want to Carb Monox poison him although it is fairly minor overall.

If I run a longer tailpipe, it is possible to route the exhaust further away, but then I lose my departure angle.

Thanks all for the input. Anyone have a good source for a big Arse rear deflector?

Hey. I have a 97 LTD and I drive with my dog EVERYWHERE. I put the back seats down and roll down the back two windows. I leave the rear window up... Never, ever have had a exhaust smell come through the cab. And the dog can stick her head out of both sides of the car... Kinds sucks with all the slobber on the back doors, but that's the price you pay...
