Different rim size, which psi do I use?

The truck was built with 15 inch rims and the sticker in the door says "29 psi cold" well apparently the previous owner put 16" rims on (same stock rim just one nice bigger). Now the psi on these tires say 44psi max. What number do I go with?

I would go with the number on sidewall of tires. Mine was also upgraded rims from the dealership.

The 4runners came with P series tires. I would assume that if the max pressure of the tire is 44psi that they are a LT tire. The max pressure is what you would inflate a tire to if you are loading the tire to it's capacity. A fully loaded 4runner does not come close to that weight.

We may need more info (tire size, load range) to give you a more exact pressure but I would run around that 32-35 range.

Yeah, like Gerdo says. At 44 psi you will wear the tires in the center and ride very harsh.

I have stock 16" and run 33psi, one higher than recommended.
