I have a 2000 4Runner. Last night I started experiencing an intermitent problem where it is slow to turn over then once it turns over and you put it into drive it is very slow to pull out. This only happens when I experience the slow turn over when starting the motor. Any ideas?

I spoke to a mechanic at work and he said the same thing. Went to Advance Auto to test the battery, which was the original and 7yrs old. Battery needed to be replaced. She hasn't cranked like this since I bought her last October. I am guessing my road trip last week, combined with extreme heat of Myrtle Beach really hit hard.

Yea, that'll do it. I had the same thing happen to me a couple months ago. I also had the original battery (8 yrs. old) and went on a long hot trip. Next morning I had trouble starting, also I was on my way to the airport for my 2 week vacation. Needless to say I was freakin out! 2 weeks later I put in an optima red top and I haven't had a single problem since. Glad you got it all figured out
