Dim Right Rear/Brake lights

So I bought a 06 4Runner Limited two days ago with 37k miles on it. Had the local Toyota dealer check it out and they said it was good to go.

Tonight my wife was following me out of the neighborhood and snapped the picture below, and emailed it to me from her phone.

The left turn signal is also on, so please disregard the upper part of the left lamp when comparing, but you can see the huge difference in brightness between the brake lights.

When I first saw the picture, I just assumed the right brake lights weren't activating, but upon closer inspection later this evening, they are just dimmer. I had my son hit the brakes for me a couple times while I was standing behind the car. It all works, but is pathetically dim. The running light on the right is also noticeably dimmer also.

Short of taking this to a dealer, does anyone have some insight as to something that may correct this? These are the LED style lights. I pulled open the tail light access panel and unplugged/plugged the connector to ensure a tight connection. It is almost as if there just isn't enough voltage getting to the lamp.

Thanks,
Rebar

Think this may be resolved...

So after tinkering with it some more in the dark with the help of my wife, it dawned on me that one of the housing compartments which also holds the array of LED style lights may have been replaced at some point. They work, but badly.

Long story short, the left housing appears to be original equipment. The right housing is stamped with the company name "Eagle Eyes" which is apparently a very FAIL replica of the original.

I will follow up once I acquire a replacement to confirm if this is the culprit.

Sorry for the long post.

Dim '07 drivers LED taillight (tail/brake)

A friend was following me one night and told me later my pass. side taillight was dimmer than the drivers side. Sure enough it was and on my way to work I saw a 4th gen in front of me on a rainy morning and his was dimmer too. Now I read (searched )and found this post . I think everybody with a 4th Gen needs to go outside tonight and check your tail lights:)
I pulled it, swapped it to the other side checked connectors and still the same as if different lumen LEDs were used in it. Can't understand but there must be more out there than mine this poster and the other one I saw. Seems it's just a connector soldered to a circuit board of LEDs. Anyone else ?????

Brake/Tail Light Dim...

Problem found.....I pulled both tail lights to compare them. Found out pass side is an Eagle Eye brand! The driver side has all original chalk markings for inspections and tests by factory pass side is clean, different color wires and
the Eagle Eyes name molded in it. Otherwise looks OEM from outside. Must have different lumen LED's in theirs. So beware if you look to replace only one with non-OEM.
