Dimming lights

I noticed when driving on the highway at night that my dash lights will dim, as well as my headlights as well, this is something new that I have not noticed before. I do have an aftermarket stereo system but even with it off the lights continue to dim on and off. Any idea what it could be? Could my battery be dying? If so, what's a good replacement? I know people say the red and yellow tops but not sure if I want to spend over $100 for a battery.

Have one of those chain auto parts stores test the battery and alternator. If they test out ok then follow the cables down to the chassis ground and make sure everything is clean and connections are tight. I have the Toyota True Start battery and whenever that dies I'll get another True Start.

An aftermarket stereo could be draining the battery. Itll probably test fine but isnt regulating the voltage like it should. You definitely want to invest in an optima for the deep cycle quality. You probably spent alot on the stereo. Why wouldnt you invest in a proper battery to power it?
