Dirty Devil River Crossing Question

Hey everyone, I'm looking for some info regarding the Dirty Devil River crossing on the Poison Springs Canyon trail off of Utah 95, just north of Hite. I've got some overnight permits for the Maze district in Canyonlands later this week and was considering this trail as an exit route. Specifically, I'm curious if anyone has any info regrading what constitutes a passable flow-rate. The least-capable vehicle in our group is a stock Jeep WJ (2004 Grand Cherokee) on aggressive AT tires. I talked to a ranger at Hans flat today and, even after specifically outlining this trail, he proceeded to tell me there was no such river crossing :shrug:

I've got a link to USGS current conditions, but am unsure what flow-rate approaches the red zone in terms of being able to safely cross (none of us have snorkels). The weather forecast show's potential for showers so obviously conditions can change rapidly, but I'd still like to get a general idea. I searched the web but couldn't find any references to actual numbers. Lastly, I did find a reference to the USGS gage height, and that it didn't accurately represent river depth at the actual crossing, which doesn't help much. Thanks in advance guys.

Some good information in the last couple posts of that thread. Long story short, have a shovel and winch because the river was running WAY high the past couple days and there's probably some monster cut banks.
