Dirty driver's side mirror

I wash my car just about once a week, but it never fails that the mirror looks foggy the next morning. By the time evening rolls around the mirrow is just down right dirty. The next morning I need to wipe the mirror down again. My passanger side is crystal clear. I tried parking head in, tail in, inside the garage, outside the garage... I am at a loss for words. Am I the only one? Has a TSB been posted that I just don't know about? I have an '08 UR, if that means anything.

I haven't found a correlation to washing the car, but I've noticed the same thing - one morning the mirrors will suddenly look like they're fogged over, and then they need cleaning. The other car in the same garage doesn't have that problem, so it can't be fully caused by the environment. I really haven't paid enough attention to it to figure out the pattern or the root cause.

Mine does the same thing. I used Rain-X and I swear it was worse

I spite of the label warnings I used the interior, Rain-X anti-fog and it helped somewhat. It's very weird that the convex mirror doesn't fog as easily as the fog-magnet on the drivers side.

I wonder what coating the Limited's use and if it works. They supposedly have some 'magic' coating that helps with this.

I think it has something to do with how you wash/clean the mirrors and windows.

I have one car that I used to take the sponge to on the entire vehicle during washes. No more.

With my 4Runner and Odyssey, I don't wash the mirrors or windows when I wash the car. I use Stoner's Invisible Glass with newspaper or paper towels.

If you use the sponge that you used to wash the car on your mirrors or windows, that will scratch the surface/coating on the windows mirror and make them more susceptible to holding dirt/moisture.

If you check your 4Runner manual, you'll see that they said the rear hatch drop down window has a special coating on it, which helps repel water. This special coating is probably a clear coat baked into the glass.

In any case, the mirrors on 4Runners are heated, so once you turn them on, the moisture should go away.

I did realize this weekend though that if you have your windows down, the heated mirrors/windows button doesn't work.

How about using "Nano Wiper" when cleaning the mirror. It might just that the driver's side is contaminated. There's one free nano wiper when you buy Glass Science - Rain Clear.

Ok. At least it's not just me. I will look into a few OTC "quick fixes." Has anyone taken their T4R back to the dealership for this issue?
