Dirty Shower?

Now I don't know if this of help to anybody, but I will just say it anyways. My shower always gets dirty (hard water) and I always have to clean it every other weekend, so it gets on my nerves. So I decided to use some left over wax and rain-x and, you guessed it, the shower stays cleaner! I only have to do it every 4- 5 weeks now. lol. Yes i know this is very Off-Topic, but I figured it would help somebody. But Fiberglass wax for boats would probably be better because it is fiberglass and its frequently wet.

I used to use this stuff called Gel Gloss http://www.gel-gloss.com/ for just about everything, including the tile in the shower, the marble floors and coffee tables at my parents house and even on the outside of our boats and jet skis. I'll look into that stuff too. We have to replace the glass doors in our shower because the glass is etched from the hard water now, I've even used Lime Away and a straight edge razor on the glass and it's still cloudy. Damn city water. When we build another house, I'm putting in a water softener/purifier. And hot water bibs outside the house for washing cars in winter!!

Do try it. The stuff is cheap and works rather well. Doesn't smell the greatest but works. Also, I think it isn't very difficult to add a softener ex post facto to a water system. You just install the unit after the cold and hot receiver from the city and hot water heater, respectively. I don't know though, if you built the house you probably know better than me!

We're on a slab and to add a water softner would be a nightmare. First our water service comes in at an odd area, totally opposite side of the house from the garage/utility room. Second, we have no room for a water softener inside. I cant fit my extended cab truck into my garage if that tells you how tiny it is. I'm almost wondering about the 4Runner fitting in there once I get my paint/body work done on my other car and can actually use the garage to park cars in again instead of using as a body shop LOL.

But yeah, this house is not very old (10 years) but was poorly thought out for such things. My next house I will design, and add items like the hot water outside, plugs under the eaves every 15' for xmas lights and such, a big ass garage, a huge covered back porch, lots of extra paved parking, etc.

Whoever gets this house when we're done though will never have to worry about carpet, as we are slowly tiling every room in the house with porcelain tile. Soooo much cleaner, especially with my allergies.

LOL. That is why my dad had to build the shop in the back of the house- He had too much crap in an oversized 3 car garage! As it is now he can barely fit his extended cab Tundra in it. We even made a series of hoists to hold our outrigger canoes and kayaks above the cars. I'm just waiting for the day when one of them falls! Tile is the way to go man, I am getting ready to redo my house as well with all tile or hardwood/tile combo. The kitchen and bathrooms are already tiled but I want the rest done now. It's so easy to clean too! Sorry about the water issue, I know what its like to bang your head against the wall because a builder cut a corner or did something stupid.

Being on a tiny city lot (I used to live on my parent's 60 acre lot) is effing killing me. And city zoning pisses me off too!! I cant have a storage shed over a certain size or it has to be made of brick to match the house, so I have a tiny metal shed that is completely crammed full, though it does not help that I have an entire Honda Accord dismantled and stored in there, minus the unibody that I have in the garage LOL. Plus three walk behind mowers, spare plyboard and 2X4's, most of a pair of mopar 360's, a full set of tires/rims from my ram, a bbq grill, the list never ends. I told the wife, in five years, this house will be 15 years into a 30 year note, the equity we have now would pay 2/3 of the house off by itself. In five years, I told her I want to sell, and find another place, a tad bigger, but with MORE LAND. Maybe a full acre or two, and not directly in the city, where zoning laws can give me grief. That way I can do what I want to do, and not have the city breathing down my neck.

I'm just not used to being cooped up on a postage stamp piece of land after living on the farm. I'm slowly going mad!!!!!!!

LOL, I live in Las Vegas, I know what it means to have no land!! I also know what it's like to go from 2 acres to 8,000 sq. ft.! Just be glad you don't have to deal with Home Owner's Associations...

I have fam in Vegas and was looking at homes there too. I must say how can they consider 3ft around the house "yard"? lol
