crappy Paint rendition of what it may look like, think i like it. Still dont really know what to do with the license plate, gotta have one on the front in WA but it doesnt have month/year tags so I have seen people cut them down to a smaller size with just the number portion so that could be a concept here and just slide to too the side piece.

I've seen guys put the bar just under where your Toyota is in the upper grill. One guy put a piece of tinted glass over it so it is pretty much invisible. I was thinking of doing this with mine one day.

I have seen that as well (think the mega expensive Rigid grills are done that way) but the bar is fairly heavy and your wires would have to be routed around the hood liner for opening and closing. After digging into this grill I sorta question the support for that hanging low there. The bottom section just seems to be the perfect dimensions and has solid mounting points down there for this.

I agree, you don't want to mount it to the hood/grill assembly. You mount it to the bumper support below the grill. It just sits up high enough to peek through the bottom of the upper grill. The wiring would be exactly the same as the lower grill position.

Ahh, makes more sense. Interesting, were you thinking of cutting a grill section out or just having it sit behind your mesh material?

I would just let it shine through. You'll have more than enough output, plus getting it close enough to be even near flush would be problematic in the way of the hood latch.

Got two things wrapped up this week. 1, red lugs nuts are now back to stock color and 2...flowmaster!

Removed the gargantuan of a stock muffler in favor of a Flowmaster 50 series (left the resonator and original tip etc.) Ill post a good sound clip later if anyone is interested but Im a big fan so far.

Yes besides a portion of new pipe on either side of it. The rest of it is OEM for the time being.

Got one thing done today, finished up routing and wiring in my backup camera. Used and Esky model and ran the wire through the grommet for the hatch release switch then T-tapped into the reverse light bulb for the signal to the head unit. Ill get that exhaust vid up soon, the vid i took today had too much noise pollution so it was hard to hear.

I found that thread with the light bar behind the grill, if you're still interested. I have a bar on the way and am going to give it a go soon.

That lower piece looks to be held in my some type of snap clip set up so it might be removable without taking the bumper cover off?

Yes with that style lower grill there are two small bolts and a bunch of little clips all the way around to hold it into place. It can easily be removed without taking off the bumper cover. I just did this to install some brackets that mounted over the bumper support studs to mount up a 30" light bar in the lower grille. Others have just welded tabs to the bumper support and it turned out pretty good but might be trickier with the bumper cover still on.

Oh nice, yea that looks good. I still havent done anything with that project. Saw another older thread on here where a member is selling brackets that use your bumper mounting bolts to do the same type of hidden mount on the lower grill, or he has a second style that sorta flush mounts it. For his idea you needed a certain size bar that I dont have though.

Yeap think i just saw that thread or a really similar one on here with brackets that mounted that way for about that size of a bar. Looks good

Yep MojaveMadMan brackets, that's what I used. He quit making them, but the idea is a good one if you wanted a bolt on design to replicate for a shorter bar.

I ended up getting one of his last two remaining brackets! Got it installed yesterday and Ill post up some pics tonight.

New tires/wheels

Ended up picking up a set of 06 tundra/sequoia 17" 5 spoke wheels off CL with a set of 265/70r17 BFGoodrich AT's on them. Decided to paint a gunmetal color like I had originally wanted to do on my limited wheels. Going to mount up Friday (Getting TPMS swapped over).
