Disable full-time 4WD

Ran a quick search, and didn't come up with anything. Is there a no-hack method of disabling or turning off the full time 4WD on the 4th gen V8s? Going on a real long road trip soon, and could use on the gas savings if possible.

Nope.

Nobody has even attempted it yet, but I want to try a V6 Selector Switch on a V8 model once...

IMHO, the key to this finding a parts catalog. With that in hand a comparison of the V6 t-case and the V8 t-case might shed some light. I'd guess a solenoid and a switch are the main differences.

As far as MPG increase is concerned I'd guess it to be minimal. The V6's incorporate a front axle disconnect which you wouldn't have. The parts would still spin and the only gain would be any power lost in the t-cases' Torsen diff which I suspect is next-to-nothing.

I don't think anyone knows how the VSC would feel about the front end being neutered.

Correct the front axle and shafts still turn while driving , the are just not driving the front end like the full time 4x4 does. The only way it would be free spinning is if the 4R had auto or manual locking/unlocking front hubs ( which is does not).

Granted it would be nice to have . How much gas you save all depend on many conditions .
