Disabling lock/ unlock Beeps

Technically, you can do ALL of the settings yourself but you'll need to get your hands on the OEM OBD scan tool and software for the 03/04 4runner. That's going to set you back a few $K.

I had my beep adjusted to the lowest setting about 1 month after I purchased my truck. Longo Toyota did it free of charge. It took them about 30 minutes to figure out how to do it. Ultimately though, I believe it's less than 5 minutes worth of work. Just plug in the tool, follow the on-screen menus. Unplug tool. Done.

Thanks for the help - Got it out.

Has anyone disbabled or turned down the horn honks when locking the doors with a remote with a door is open ? I think the alert is a good thing, but the multiple honks is too much. Actually I'd rather all the doors lock even if doors are open. But I know this is a standard throughout the Toyota family.

The keyless entry system NEVER honks the horn. The oem alarm and RS3200 only honk the horn when the alarm is triggered. If your horn is honking in this case it's likely an aftermarket alarm causing it. Mine used to do that until I ripped the dealer installed alarm out and put in the Toyota RS3200.

yep, you're right. Found the tiny manual. Any idea where I could find more info - The only identification on the manual is "MPX"

Thanks!

I can't help you there. Did it come installed from the dealership? If so, they should be able to tell you what they put in there. Then you can take it to a knowledgable alarm shop and find out if it can be tweaked or not.

Unlock all 4 Doors

I know this thread is old as the hills, but I'm having dealership issues. I took my 2004 4Runner in yesterday for service, and while i was there, i asked them to reprogram it to unlock all 4 doors with one push of the key fob button, rather than 2. I'm fine with the beeps, i just don't want 4 beeps every time i unlock.

I got a call from the service guy when my car was done, and he said that on the 2004 4Runner, there's no option for unlocking all 4 doors with one push of the button. I find that highly unlikely... and think it's more of a "we can't figure it out, and don't really want to try" type thing.

Does anyone know how I can explain to them how to do it?

It's in the C-BEST (Customized Body Electronics SeTtings) when they set through a handheld programmer.

Silenced the lock/unlock beep

Thanks for the link to yotatech forum. Found the piezo buzzer under the driver's side fender, right of the brake master cylinder (2004 SR5) as indicated.

Merely unplugged the beeper and taped up the connector.

This is a super easy job and DIY will get you what you need to make other changes and diagnostics as well.

THIS OBD2 Bluetooth scanner will connect to the port under the steering column and to your smart phone.

Then download CARISTA which with a $9.99 week trial will allow you to change functions.

Examples: Door Beeps, Seat Belt Alarms, Roll Windows Up/Down with Remote, etc.

You can also download TORQUE for more diagnostics & vehicle information.

The best part is, you can use all of this on multiple cars so you only have to pay once.

According to Carista website the 4th Gens aren't supported for the full app, only for the free portions which is only the basic OBD diagnostics and if your T4R is ready or not for smog testing, all other features aren't supported even if you pay for them.

Have you tried to use this app's full features on a 4th Gen, I would love to have this app if indeed all the features do work for the 4th Gens T4Rs?

Totally skipped where OP said '03, I probably shouldn't post before coffee. Not sure on 4th Gens, but I believe a guy in my office building somewhere has one, might try and test when I go back to work.
