Discontinued parts thread

I tried and failed to get two parts from Toyota, and I thought on the way back it would be a good idea to have a thread where everyone lists parts they've tried getting but couldn't.

It would show demand for unavailable parts, it would help document how long parts were unavailable, and it would be good to have if 3rd gens are added ever to the heritage program.

Duplicate posts for certain parts are encouraged. Also you can include parts that you couldn't get at the dealer even if you can still find them online.

You don't have to rigidly follow this, but try to include at least this or more:
- Part number, name and description of part, and date you tried getting it if it wasn't within a month of when your posting
- If the part is for a specific engine/transmission/year range list that too
- Bold the part number if there is nothing comparable available aftermarket

OK. I deleted my comment also. I think the hope for this thread is that some 3rd party might find an opportunity to serve the very large 3rd gen market by reproducing needed parts which are no longer available. At least that's my hope.

I'm really surprised no company makes reproduction parts for old Toyota pickups, 4runners, and land cruisers like LMC truck does for domestic trucks. Seems like a big missed market

Cant find that part anywhere, it's officially discontinued. There is no aftermarket equivalent that I know of.

A few vacuum hose and vacuum-related components are discontinued. Not that it's a HUGE deal, but just for the sake of expanding this list

My local dealer said that the (2002 4Runner) OEM metal wiper arms were discontinued (not the rubber inserts but the metal arm that hooks onto the wiper arm) They were able to grab some from a Texas dealer I think?
These part numbers include the rubber inserts/reloads

Driver's: 85222-35091
Passenger: 85212-04012

The Driver's side Tweeter (located in the Driver's door right next to the side mirror). I got around this by ordering a 1st Generation Sequoia tweeter and it fit in but different wiring.

Driver's: 86160-35150
Passenger: 86160-35090

OEM mass airflow sensor for 1998 4runner 3.4 V6. Part # 22250-20020 made by Denso. The one that looks like a turbine. Been discontinued for years but is an essential part for those with 1996-98 runners. Only options are aftermarket, which are reported to not function properly or used, which is a crap shoot.

This mod requires a 99+ air box assembly, MAF and a wiring re-pin. An internet search came up with a company called PMAS that makes a plug and play sensor assembly with an aluminum tube and 99+ style sensor that is pinned for the stock wiring. Has anyone used this on their 96-98 4runner? Here is the link Just a moment...

The ignition + door locks are discontinued. Those parts do wear out.
