Discount Tire Credit

I'm thinking about getting a lift, but in order to do that I'm gonna have to get some money for my tires. I just put them on about 3,000 miles ago. They are 265/70/17 Duratracs.

What do you think Discount Tire would give me for them?

Are you sure they're 265/70/17? The 5 star rims I had were 265/70/16 on my 3rd gen.

I'm gonna go up there sometime soon and see what they say.

I have the 17" Tundra/Sequoia rims.

Yeah...I was thinking that too.

What I really meant was that I would want bigger tires to fill in the wheel well so I would need to get decent money from my old ones to buy new 33's.

You'll get a whole lot more selling them here or on CL. I could be wrong, but I don't think Discount will give you much. I've sold several sets on CL successfully, most of the time for more than I thought I would get.

More than likely you will get more just selling them on here or CL. What kind of tires you thinking about goin with?

I was thinking a MT, but I need to get probably 40,000 out of it.

If I can't find one that would do that the Duratracs have been really good to me so I'd probably buy another set of those.

But like others have said you will probably get more on CL. I traded in my old tires, not at Discount, but a local shop. They gave me $60 for 265/75/16 BFG all terrains with about 80,000 miles on them. I did rotate them though every 5,000 miles so they didn't have any uneven tread wear. (which I was told by the shop was a big selling point for them) I probably could have gotten $100 on CL, but I didn't want to field all the calls and emails about them.

I'm going to soon. Just wanted to see if anyone on here had sold basically new tires to Discount Tire.

They retail for about $850 and have less than 3,000 on them so I was hoping for $600.

I'm willing to bet you won't get much. They don't sell many used tires, and the ones they do have tend to sit for a while before being sold. So the fact that they have to store them, and the relatively low demand, means they won't give you much. Even if they're almost new.

Doesn't mean you shouldn't go try though. Who knows, maybe the store manager will be in a good mood.

I went to a couple Discount Tires to BUY a used tire and was told only like 2 Discount tires in the Denver area stock used tires...

wonder if thats nationwide or just here in Denver

man i tried to trade in my barely-used Dueler A/T's, a 5 set, for a 31" Nitto Terra Grappler A/T w/ a Moto Metal 16" rim, and they wanted to give me only 125 bucks for all 5 of my tires.

Just remember that America's Tire/Discount Tire doesn't do a lot of used tire business. Most of the tires that come off of cars are not in good enough condition to resell. The few that are do get kept in the off chance that someone is looking for one in that particular size (but most often are used as loaners when tires are on order.) So as far as they're concerned, your used tires are more of a hassle for them than any real opportunity for a sale. Hence the reason the offers for them are so small. If you buy new tires from them, just tell them you want the old ones back and they'll gladly give them to you (just make sure you don't pay any applicable disposal fees.) You will certainly get more for them selling them yourself. But like selling a car on the street as opposed to trading it in, you have to put in the effort to list them, then field the calls in response.

LOL, sad thing is, I did laugh. They coulda given me a little more of an offer than just 125for an entire 5 set of 31" Duelers w/ full tread on em.

I went by today. The guy said there was a maximum that he could give and that was $25 per tire. Obviously I didn't sell them.
