Distributor Cap and Rotor replacement

I've searched and searched to no avail...

I have a 93 T4R Manual that I bought a little under a month ago. I want to change the wires/plugs/dist cap and rotor.

I have found write ups for the plugs and wires but can't find any steps on how to remove and install the cap and rotor. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good set of instructions? If none exist, then a few pointers would be appreciated. I've never done it before so I don't know what to expect.

Undo the screws holding the cap on pull the rotor off replace with new one install new cap and attach wires

You don't sound like an ass at all. If a person doesn't know how to do it - even it is a simple process - they still need instructions so they don't eff anything up.

That said, I really asked because a week or so ago I thought I read something regarding the importance of putting the rotor back on in a very specific way. I could be wrong but I just need to make sure.

Everything does have to be pointing specific directions. Grab a Haynes manual at the parts store. It is as easy as lining things up, pull the old one out and put the new one in. The Haynes manual specifically does detail how to do this.

The rotor is keyed, you can't put it on wrong. The cap only goes on one way too. You just need to make sure you put the wires back in the right spots.

Good for you for getting dirty. Everybody was new at wrenching once.

Right everything only goes back one way and if you've read how to do wires you should be able to put those new wires in the new cap. Good luck.

Just changed mine over the weekend, it's just that easy *except* one of the two small screws that attach the rotor was stripped and impossible to get a screwdriver on to remove so I had to drill off the head. The Bosch cap kit came with three new screws but the rotor did not; I suggest you go to a hardware store and buy 2 new stainless M4x12mm cap screws and washers just in case you need them.
