That trip from AZ to NC must have been amazing. Last year I moved from VA to Houston TX in my 2014



I will be moving again from Texas to Maine in a couple weeks with some stops along the way. I will for sure be installing a trans cooler this time. The one you posted looks like a great option for a good price.

It was a pretty smooth trip for the most part, I made sure I chose a route around all the mountain in the east. I-10 to the I-95.

The tranny cooler is the same one that a lot of the guys on the forum use. Worth it.

I got bored and bought something...

I've been bored since I have been away on business and decided to buy a cheap Amazon LED scanner for $4.99.

Doesn't mean I'm going to install it, but it is something silly that I've always wanted. So here's a video I filmed in my hotel room testing it out.

My worst fear

So my worst fear came to light today. I've been gone for a couple of months and noticed that the paint on the front passenger door started cracking. In 2010 Maroone Toyota in Florida had dinged the door the same day I was supposed to take delivery. They had their paint guy repair the door and all was well, I know it was a crappy way to start out but I had to drive from Key West all the way up there and just didn't want to deal with it. So now I have the option of repairing it myself or taking it to a shop...

I went to a local shop, quoted $525 to repaint the whole door and buff out the entire truck. Another shop quoted $675 to just blend in area needed to be painted...

The $525 place is only $325 for the door and I asked about the buffing/glazing. So in all reality that not too bad.

Switch panel progress

Decided to make a switch panel out of star board. Unfortunately West Marine did not have any black boards.

Finished up wiring, crimping and heat shrinking for the night. Time for some Barney style write up.

OEM style switches wired as follow: Red to relay, Black to ground, Green to 12v accessory on wire, Blue to "parking light circuit."



Here's the new relays, I'm not a fan of the wire coloring that came with the relay. (+) is black (30pin), (-) is red (85pin), yellow goes to the switch (86pin), blue goes to the light (87pin).

Amp and storage box

I've been surfing the forum and a few others for ideas and really liked the storage box idea to replace the sliding tray. It's not as cool as the late Seatlemike (RIP) cargo set up, but it'll do.

It's a start.

Boom! All it needs is a bit of paint, carpeting for the lid, struts, and a latch.

I was in town earlier and picked up some subwoofer box carpet in "charcoal." Install was pretty easy: spray glue on box and carpet, smooth out, fix edges and corners, blend in seams and edges.

Just need some latches and struts.

Under hood LED light

Super easy, very inexpensive, nice and bright.

I bought a 18w Flush mount LED by "Kawell" on Amazon for $18.99 with free shipping and a pin switch for $4.59+ $2.89 S/H. The install was pretty straightforward: mount the LED bar, run the positive wire through the hood to the battery, run the ground to the pin switch adjust accordingly and you're in business.

(UPDATE: I took this rack down because I wasn't happy with it. I'll end up making a new one with 1" square tubing)

Took the wife and dogs out to Ocracoke today. We really should have left earlier. I threw on the roof rack and big light bar before we left... so its not wired yet, that'll be a Sunday project.
