Just want to make sure my 5th gen fill and drain bolt are the same location as in the picture ?

Many oil quart do i need for just drain and fill ?

sorry, late to the party!
I'm going to use this:
ATF Exchange (using the cooling line)

I know, I know, it's from the 4th gen forums, BUT it's the same transmission.
The only thing I can tell that's different is how the cooler tubes are arranged.

Hey guys long time lurker here. Im wanting to change my tranny fluid but am a bit unclear about some of the generalities.

I have seen to two different styles of changing. The pan drop with a filter change (3q) and the complete 12q change with no filtet change.

I bought enough material to change out all the fluids. I also bought stuff to drop the pan and change the filter.

The 4runner is a 2016 and Im at 71k miles and had a complete flush by a shop at maybe 40k miles.

Im not even able to find at what intervals I should change the fluid.

No official interval for regular maintenance. You’re definitely on a shorter schedule than I am, I changed mine a couple weeks ago at 111,000.

I did the three drain and fills method, I really see no need to drop the pan, replace the screen, clean the magnets unless you’ve been towing or are otherwise hard on your truck.
Maybe I would think differently if I had a lift.
I recommend this video as it was the easiest to follow and she’s fairly detail oriented.

Appreciate the input. I just went by what the mechanic said, I didnt know other than that. But it was expensive and I didnt really want to go the route of them doing a power flush again (not sure the exact term).

From what I have read it can be hard on the tranny. And it just makes more sense to me to just change the fluid.

If you look at the history of the 750F transmission you’ll see they tend live a long time with minimal maintenance.

Other than looking for leaks, this is the first time the transmission shows up in the Maintenance guide (2020)...

Interesting, I wonder where my mechanic got the idea to flush mine. So if I had mine changed at let’s say 35-40k I should be good to go for quite some time. I’m not going to mess with it. And I do not tow anything with it.

Now on to fixing my rear camera... just quit working. The screen started to go out once and a while, blink and flash a bit, then quit altogether.

How many oil quart do i need for just drain and fill ?

I maintain a 2014 4R A750E and a 2015 Tacoma A750E - 2WD transmission.

In both cases, I find that if the unit is properly filled to begin with, 3 qts. are drained if the vehicle engine is cold and on level ground. If you elevate the front as high as a good jack will get it, you'll drain another qt. for a total of 4 qts.

My experience,

2014 LE 2WD 50K miles. Tow 2-5 times per year, short trips, first trans service.

Raised vehicle with tranny warm and running, pulled "check" plug. Drained MORE than expected. Did not measure how much came out. Replaced filter and gasket, used hand pump. At 3 qts, the overflow check tube still didn't work. I believe it took maybe 2 more quarts to fill to overflow.

IF you want to change filter, it has a fine wire mesh screen, may not need changing but AutoZone has one with gasket for 1/3 the price of Toyota. I used Toyota WS fluid.

If I was to do it again, I would definitely drain the tranny through the "check" plug with the engine running and up to temp and measure how much comes out. That is the approximate additional fluid you will need to put it back to the original amount. I feel that mine was slightly underfilled compared to my factory fill.

I did two other similar vehicles but this time measured how much came out through the overflow tube. Got approximately a quart with the engine running and up to temp. All the videos I watched never took into account any factory fill above the "check" tube.

I got just over 1.5 qts out of the check valve and 2 qts out of the drain plug. My truck had been sitting overnight.
