DIY: JDM Inspired Amber Corner Lens....

Maybe some of you will appreciate this mod, others will prefer the ricer clear corners route, but I have always wanted this look once I got a 3rd gen.

And....Yes, JDM 4Runner does not have this look. But I like it! Not sure if anyone has tried this on a 3rd gen yet.

Just bought some transparent paint at Michaels for $10. Bought clear corners from eBay $30 shipped.

Inspiration:

Used about 1.25 of the Krylon Stained Glass 6oz spray...as you can see starts off yellow.

it looks nice but kind of gives the runner an older look. which depends on your personal taste if you like it or not

I'm 50/50 on it. I like it better than stock, but not necessarily better than the right set of clear corners. It does sorta give it a throw back look.

It definitely does give it more of a retro look, which is cool in it's own sort of way. Personally, I like the simplicity of fewer colors on the front as I feel it gives a more consistent look (which is why I just installed clear corners and bumper lights). But, that's just me, and I'm a barely functional human being. Are you going to swap the bumper lights back to the amber ones as well?

Thanks for the compliments. I think it looks better once the car is clean and I get some better pictures from a distance for perspective. It is a throw back look somewhat.

I just think that everyone's first mod for the 3rd gen is clear corners even if they are real jdm or from burtman.

Just a different look, it does getting some used to.

I thought about it....i also thought about if it was possible to ditch those lights and use the corner lights I just painted as signal lights.

To each there own, i commend your originality, and i do like it better than stock, but i like the clear corners with an orange bulb the clear to orange you have there in my opinion doesnt flow as much, remind me of a saturn vue:

I should have reduced the number of coats, I was a bit ticked off after buying another spray can.

clear corners are cheap an easy- would have done it if I did not go through my ricer stage in high school.

you can do yellow at first because the first bottle of krylon I used made the light yellow, so you can slap it on and see how it looks.
