DIY options to add more 12V outlets?

Just finished reading everyone's comments in "Things I hate about my 4runner" and the "only 1 damn 12V outlet" was one of the big ones. (http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45470)

Anyone in here contemplating or done a mod to add another or two more outlets in their 4Runner?

If you want to add just one more outlet and you don't have the ashtray, just installing the factory ashtray (about$50.00US) will give you one extra outlet and it's plug and play.

I did the following which works great if you want it hidden (GPS, radar detector, etc.) but you could at least use the fuse box adapter I did to get power even if you put the outlets somewhere else. hope this gives you some ideas

Added 2 in my car. Both of which I got form threads on here. The first is THEREED's thread. Awesome way to hook up my GPS. The second is actually taping into the wires from the ash tray lighter with another 12v outlet. I used the ones form radioshack, because they have an inline fuse and it also comes with a mounting bracket. It made it helpful and clean. I cut a hole in my center console, under the coin holder thing, and glued it in there. I took the wires, and with the tap included with the 12v, and some extras I bought while I was there, I spliced into the wires. I really like my setup because my GPS wire is not all over the place anymore, and my car charger i can charge in my console. Everything is clean.

That is they way most cars are, you only get one unless you have a cigarette lighter. As other have done I went to radioshack and got the socket, added one under the dash for my GPS cord and currently thinking of another one to put in the center console box for my phone or zune.
