DIY Rear Speaker Upgrade/How to modify the factory housing

I've attached a link to my video I made on how to remove your rear door panel to gain access to your rear door speakers and how to remove and modify the factory 4inch speakers housings to fit the new 5.25inch speakers. I used Renegade by Rockford Fosgate RX52 Coaxial speakers and they sound amazing.

Very timely or me as I'm about to do the speaker upgrade as well. I already swapped out my head unit with a double DIN Sony. I wanted to ask you if you had considered trying to squeeze in 6.5" speakers in the rear doors as I am considering that size and have read mixed results on the rear door install for that size. I am confident on 6.5" for the front just not the back set up but the guy at the stereo place strongly suggested I try and keep it to all the same size if possible.

If you go with 6.5's you'll have to trim the rear door panel and also find a way to space the speaker towards the interior. If you don't your window will hit the back of the speaker.

I've been meaning to pull my rear panels and take some photo's of what I did to make mine work. I used 1/4" rod couplings as spacers. Then just used regular screws with some silicone to tap new spots in the door sheet metal. The rod spacers provide 7/8" clearance the new speakers will need to avoid hitting the glass. Then it's just a matter of trimming the inside of the door panel.

5.25" speakers sound good. 6.5" speakers will fit but not as easily.
