DIY TPMS Swap from 5th gen SR5 to TRD wheels?

Bought a set TRD Pro wheels on the TRD discount day and just ordered a set of AT3Ws to get mounted on them. Planning on selling the stock wheels and tires but need the TPMS out of them. Would it be pretty easy to pull the TPMS out of the old wheels (break the bead using the drive up on 2x4 trick) and put in regular valve stems and then take the tpms, wheels, and tires to get mounted and balanced? I would just have the tire shop swap them over but I want to keep the old tires mounted on the SR5 wheels and I would imagine they are going to charge me more to dismount and remount the old tires just to get the tpms out.

Seems pretty easy from the youtube videos but don't know if the 4runner ones are more complicated.

I just got new tires and wheels. When I did the swap my tire shop was more than happy to set up my old set. If you think about it, that is pretty much included in the price they charge to mount and balance anyway. May not hurt to ask before going through the trouble.

Good point, ill probably have costco do it. One of my buddies is a supervisor in the tire shop. While he can't "give me a deal" nor would I ask him too. But if I explain what I want done he might be able to do it without remounting / balancing the old wheels and tires.

personally, i would just let the shop do it. it should not cost much for them to break the beads on your orig wheels/tires, remove the tpms/valve stem and transfer to the new wheels. this way, if there are any tpms issues.. its on the shop as it was previously working.

When I got new wheels/tires awhile back, America's Tire (Discount Tire) took the sensors off my old wheels and mounted them in the new ones free of charge. You might not need to pay anything depending on where you're going.

I bought a full extra set of TPMS sensors and had my shop install them when I got my second set of wheels. I had hoped they would clone them, but they don't do that, they only charge $4.95 for a TPMS reset, so whatever

Costco did it no problem. Even put in valve stems and aired up my old wheels for no charge. Was like $65 total.

Same. Costco took the TPMS off the OEM wheels and put them on the TRD pro wheels with brand new service packs (washers and o-rings). Then put standard rubber valve stems on the OEM wheels and tires to air back up and mounted/balanced ATs.

They didn't even need to dismount the OEM tires off OEM wheels, just popped the bead to get access to the TPMS and put rubber stems on.
