DizzyDoyle Build Thread

Just finished swapping out some of my old/ burnt out dash lights to LEDs. I ended up swapping the main dash lights, key ring, ash tray, glove box and shifter lights.

I will get a night shot later. I am also hoping not to have a bunch of hot spots bc I don't really feel like taking it all apart again.

Here is a random snow shot from here in Athens, GA. I had to throw the 4Runner in there. Hope to get out and play later if this stuff sticks!

So today I noticed that the grill on my Dad's avalon was busted out. So I started to give him a hard time about it. Then he spun it in a different direction and tells me he hit my 4Runner the other day. So I shot out to see what he might have done to mine (hoping it was the rear bumper). Turned out he hit the hook on my hitch. Boo! But oh well, looks like we might do a "satoshi grill" on the avalon. Anyway here are some pictures.... 4Runner 1, Avalon 0.

In other news I have some new rear shocks and an extended brake line coming along with knocking out some LBJs in the next month or so.

haha, I can relate to this.. When I was a younger and lived with my parents, I use to park my rig in the driveway but down towards the street. Was out of the way of my parents vehicles this way. My dad comes in my room and wakes me up one morning saying he backed into my truck. He was in a rush and forgot it was there. And that's how I ended up with my front ARB lol.

That is a great way to get the ARB. I wish I had a good story like that one for me getting the TJM. I love your 4Runner too man! Great build you have. Hopefully one day mine will do some similar stuff.

Nothing crazy going on with the 4Runner. Just changed out the ditch light set up I had. The old lights were a tad too big for my liking so I went with something smaller. The old lights will end up on the front of the TJM in the next week or so. Also we order ad 50 qt ARB fridge for transporting blueberry samples for work. I am hoping to get familiar with this and see if one might be in my future. At least I can use this one for tailgating in the Fall for UGA Football!

So over the weekend I helped miles replace his steering rack bushings. First off I will say that his 4Runner is named Sucubus bc she is such a pain to work on at times. But unfortunately that was not the case this weekend. We got everything finished, but she sat half done for one night until we were able to finish with the sunlight. Anyway here are some pictures....

I also finished up: rewiring my new ditch lights, sub and installed longer front sway bar end links. All in all it was a good weekend getting a few things done on mine and getting miles steering back tight.

Next up:

- Oil change
- HID Retrofit
- Fuel filter
- PCV Valve and grommet
- Timing belt & Water pump
- Plasti dip Tundra wheels
- LBJs
- LEDs on front bumper
- Extended rear brake line
- LEDs flush mounted to rear bumper
- Elocker (once I find one)

Random picture from helping miles last weekend. This is one of his sway bar bushings. Needless to say it is a good thing he was in there replacing them.

- Oil change
- HID Retrofit
Please do these yourselve... Oil changes are so easy and its worth buying better oil instead of paying a shop. Also there are very few people who sell good quality retrofits anymore, much better to learn through the process that pay someone else at this point...

I'll be doing these soon as well check this out, http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/92427-ball-joints.html

- Extended rear brake line
Interested to see what line you use

- Elocker (once I find one)
Toyota e-locker with diff housing.

I am planning on doing most of the work myself. I have done every oil change on this 4Runner since 1999. The LBJs are coming in the mail as we speak and I have read the links many times. And thanks for the link on the elocker. I will have to look into that once other things get done.

So I noticed a bit of an oil leak Sunday morning. Looks like it is coming from where the filter is attached. The bolt on the oil pan looks clean and I cannot see any oil coming from there. Guess it is the time to do that oil change...It will be the first thing done when I get off of work today. Can't play around with oil leaks.

*Update: So I was able to get rid of the oil leak. Turned out to be a bad seal on my filter. This worked out bc I had been needing to do an oil change and had just been lazy. That spot of oil in the parking lot sure got me to act on it. No more neglecting oil changes!

Here are a couple I had laying around. Nothing special just being used daily.

This is in front of our blueberry research area here at UGA.
