So I know I should have started this a long time ago but owell. I figured I would post up some of the pictures of my 4runners transformation over the last 2.75 years. I will try to keep them in order as best as I can.
The prologue:
It was early in 2011 and the time had come in my life that I needed to get rid of my 94 MR2, my baby, my pride and joy. I had owned her for years, and built her from the ground up including a 3rd gen 3sge swap, full paint job, suspension etc etc. Needless to say, seeing her drive away was a sad day but.... I now had cash in my pocket for my next phase, a 4runner.
I had debated between a 1st gen Xterra and a 3rd gen runner for a month or so and had decided to stick with good ole Toyota.
After a bit of a hunt (and a huge gas bill driving a 95 Chevy 3500 xcab 454 dually) I found a great deal on a 2 owner 96 Evergreen pearl runner. It was 600 miles away but the pictures showed a CLEAN well maintained runner and the price was right so I bought a bus ticket and took the 13 hour ride from Boise Idaho to St. George Utah.
On April 25th, 2011 when the old owner pulled into the bus stop to pick me up, I couldnt believe that this beautiful truck was about to be mine. She looked like she had just rolled off the showroom floor and I swear I heard her whisper to me "Hello handsome, ready for a ride?". That was the first time I met "Kira". After a short trip, I knew she was perfect for me and after some paperwork, she was all mine.
Kira and I have since had many journeys together. We have climbed mountains and sped across deserts. We have seen the beauty of the Oregon Coast and the serenity of Moab Utah. I have given back to her as much as possible and am looking forward to many more years of enjoyment together.
The Notable Upgrades Timeline:
4/25/11 - Purchased Kira. Stock 96 runner in evergreen pearl with 197,xxx miles. Runs and drives like new. $4100
5/1/11 - Installed a B&M 70264 transmission cooler to avoid the pink milk shake.
8/10/11 - Picked up her first real mod. A brand new in box TRD Catback exhaust. $90
11/27/11 - Purchased a set of 17" Tundra/sequoia Split 5 spoke wheels. $250
12/31/11 - Installed a set of Toyo MT's (Eload
) $250
2/6/12 - Got my 1st gen TRD supercharger kit. $560
1/?/13 - 4 Brand New BFG KM M/T's. $400
3/3/13 - Installed Camburg 2.5 Coilovers, Tundra 231MM brakes, New OEM LBJ's and OTRE's. $700
5/13-9/13 - Satoshi Grill mod, Cobra CB in ashtray, Plasti-Dip wheels, Curt Roof basket & T4R.ORG sticker.
9/23/13 - OME 890 and Tokico rear shocks installed. $150
12/5/13 - Replaced Front diff after destroying carrier and spider gears while wheeling. $175
12/9/13 - Installed a pair of GE Night Hawk Platinum headlight bulbs. $8.99 (these made a huge difference in light so I figured they were notable)
12/31/13 - Picked up my sport hood painted to match my evergreen pearl pain. $ 290
