Do I need a new (heavy duty) alternator?

Attempts to peruse the mods/upgrades links didn't show me anything, but if this has been addressed already feel free to point me the right direction!

Finally making some more than cosmetic upgrades to my 2017 TRD Pro. Looking at adding a 40" LED set to a roof rack, and possibly a 20" front bumper LED as well. Additionally, probably going to throw on some side LEDs for the roof rack for campsite stuff. Down the road wouldn't mind adding ditch lights as well.

As possible other elements involved in the electric system, I do have a HAM radio installed, and also swapped all the interior lights to LEDs a few years back.

Already have AJC DRL LEDs up front and the love/hate "Raptor-Style" front grill LEDs.

Some search engine stuff seems to lead, to my math-challenged mind, that I need to upgrade my alternator to meet the amp draw on all this. Can anyone confirm, point to an easy guide, or is there some useful program/spreadsheet to figure out at which point your additions exceed stock capacity?

Thanks in advance.

A larger starting battery with more reserve capacity. Add a home charger to top it off once or twice a month and possibly one of those voltage increase diode switch things that increase the voltage output of the engine that get mounted in engine bay fuse panel and you should be good. At least this is what I have done with camp lights and a fridge. I also have other power draws but those are only on while vehicle is running.

My plan would be to only use these while the vehicle is running (with the possible exception of the future side-lights). Does this change things?

And yes, I have been considering a gel battery as well. Thank you.

Driving should be no issue. You mentioned camp lights, so that’s why I said get a bigger battery. If you get a bigger battery it’s possible the 4Runner won’t provide enough voltage to charge it to 100%. There are less expensive ways to get it to 100% than a bigger alternator. Many people here running power heavy rigs without bigger alternators.

Thank you, that makes sense. I appreciate the time and education!
