Do I need extended front brake lines with a lift?

Hi All,

I've been having problems with one of my front calipers and I'm looking to replace them (No TBU, just straight replacement) along with new flex hoses and the hard line between the flex hose and the calipers.

I have a lift which was installed by the previous owner. What I have been trying to figure out is if he installed extended flex hoses. I'm pretty sure he hasn't and everytime I search for whether extended brake lines are needed with a lift, people just keep talking about the rear lines, never the front.

This leads me to believe that extending the front flex hoses isn't necessary? I can just replace with OEM sizing?

How much lift do you have? I have little of 2" up front and I am ok. I believe when you get to 3" and above linked need to be extended.

The previous owner said that he installed "OME 881 Front Coil Springs w/Top Plate Spacer". ..and a 1" diff drop.

I have the same front lift, you dont need to extend them. But again I recommend going with Stainless lines as they will last longer, give a little firmer pedal feel and usually are extended. NTM they dont cost much anyways.

They arent really required but are a nice upgrade to have, you really arent extending the suspension past its stock parameters with those shocks.

Get a set of +2 lines for lifts 1-4", and plus 4 lines for 5"+ of lift. Go with Stainless as it will last longer as well as give you better brake pedal feel and modulation. :whoo:

Goodridge Brake Lines are the way to go. I sell them for a price that is easy to justify if in need of an upgrade.

Also... A word to the wise if you do happen to ship a lot of stuff to Canada... Try avoiding using UPS when at all possible. UPS are bastards at charging a brokerage fee that is COD when they show up at your door. Typically, it'll cost your customer an extra 50-80$. Such a rip off.

I will avoid purchasing from a US seller if they ship UPS.

I've had the best luck when USPS is used to ship. I've only had to pay customs fees once that way. And it's random.

Well aware of that little issue with UPS, we hate it because there is no way to calculate on this end.

We use DHL or USPS, or we "break" the parts here in the USA and then send you the warranty replacements with a warranty invoice...
