Do I need the Sport edition?

I'm getting ready to buy this week ,so I need expert advise on my choice.

Driving profile:
55yr old male.
Kids in college
not a threat to make the CHP's top ten list!
15-20K a year mainly So Cal roads. trip to Mammouth& Big bear once or twice a year.
Using it for business, carring a few items in the back up to 400 lbs.
Trip to SFO few times a year.
Getting rid of 2001 Ford 150 Super crew cab(rides like a TRUCK)

Wants:
comfortable ride ,better than the Truck
with versitility for few passengers & light hauling.

I would like 4WD just because it's Toyota's
V-6 is cool, no power freak!
Like the sports edition but I think the ride is a little stiff.
But Impressed with the X-eas suspension..

Should I get the 4WD SE of 4WD SR5
do I really need 4WD for my driving style.

If you want comfortable ride better than the Truck with versitility for few passengers & light hauling AND have a open mind then you may want to consider a Crossover SUV.

Having owned a truck, you may want to stick with a full frame with a better ride, which is what the 4Runner does best.

Do you need 4WD. Well So Cal is usually not a place where you need 4WD. When you go up to Mammouth& Big bear, do you need it then. My guess is you don't need it, however 4Runner are meant to have 4WD and they can be easier to sell. I personally don't have 4WD and I am comfortable without it. I would go with what your comfortable with.

I like the extra features on the Sport and I like the scoop, I think there worth the extra $.

XREAS suspension will make the ride firmer...as you found out. It has monotube shocks which is good for handling and rally-racing-type off-roading. Here's more on XREAS:

I think that you will be satisfy with the regular 4runner 4wd. Testdrive one without XREAS to see if you like it.

GET the XREAS! It helps with cornering, basically eliminating the tipsy-roll you get in everyday driving with typical SUV's. I think my SE rides smoother than a sedan, seriously.

As long as your not going to lift it, absolutely go with the XREAS.

The handling characteristics with the XREAS are outstanding.

And after riding in that buckboard the Runner will seem smooth as silk and corner fantastic.

I have the sport and love the ride. Better than a truck. not much stiffer than the camry i traded.
