Do those hood mounted bug deflectors work?

I don't like bug deflectors, or whatever they're called these days. Never have, never will, but that's just a personal decision.

I'm getting Expel on the hood next week. Not in love with that either, but it beats having the hood sandblasted every time I get on the highway in NY, and it seems to be the least obtrusive solution.

Mine came with the clear bra installed on the hood and fenders but not on the entire front end. Can't wait until my bumper comes in so I can get this bumper cover off. The chips on the front of that are crazy. Damn water based paint.
