Do you have many Squeaks/Rattles ?

I love my 4Runner. I have an '07 V8 4WD Sport and I really enjoy the great drivetrain and offroad capability. But one thing has disappointed me about my new T4R: Squeaks, and Rattles etc. Within a couple of weeks of buying my new T4R, a number of interior pieces starting making noise. And I now have a squeak or rattle in the driver's B Pillar, lower console, passenger A pillar, passenger door panel, rear passenger side seatback, and cargo area. This all developed after just a few weeks of pampered (break in period) on road only driving.

The 2000 Camry LE I traded in on the other hand, had 100K miles, everything worked perfectly, and nothing squeaked or rattled nearly 8 years after the vehicle was manufactured.

What happened to Toyota build quality ?

I must not be the only one, because ConsumerReports shows Body Integrity below average for '07 4Runners. It's the only category indicating below average reliability. No point in taking it to the dealer for these problems, they can't redesign trim pieces and anchoring points. It's a manufacturing issue.

So, have many of you experienced the same problems ?

No rattles here. Im at 17k miles on my '07 V8 Sport. The roads around here are terrible- so it gets a good shaking on a daily basis.

Maybe your truck was built on Friday? :confused:
 
So far I've noticed the center console rattle, rear pax seat, and a vibration from the dash. I just learned to tune them out and now they dont bother me anymore.

Toyota cheaped out on the interior trims and used hard plastics for most parts. when you get 2 or more pieces of hard plastic rubbing each other, you're bound to get an earfull.
 
yeah I have a couple I cant seem to locate...

the center console one really bugs me... it sounds like its coming from the little storage under the info screen.

there was one in the back but I discovered that it was the latch on the passengar side rear seat, so I put a thin layer of grease on it and its been quiet since.

I also have some kind of pop or crack noise and I cant locate it. I'm starting to suspect the drivers seat, but its hard to pinpoint. Sounds like a marble hitting a hard piece of plastic at random times.

No squeaks or rattles here.
The roads here in Pennsylvania can be very, very bad yet my 4Runner is nice and quiet.
 
more when its cold

I have a rattle here and there, more so with the cold weather. Some are eliminated by moving or rearranging items in the center console, door pocket or center dash bin. I attribute many of them to the relative quiet operation of the vehicle.
 
My 2006 has 34k miles on it, I'm the second owner, and it's like a vault.

I couldn't be happier with the silence. :D
 
I have the 07 Sport 4wd V6 with 23K now and the first noise I got was a rattle under the rear passenger seat. All I had to do was tighten the bolt. I've had no issue with that since.

I also had an annoying squeak coming from the rear passenger seat D-ring where the seat secures in the up position (normal position) to the center column. Following the advise on a thread (from this site I think) I wrapped the D-ring a couple of times with duct tape (electrical tape should work too), and to this day no more squeak.

Wind noise and road noise from the doors and windows can be bothersome if I'm not listening to music. Also when a loud motorcycle or any loud muffler passes by it tends to be loud through the floor.

Given this I'm still happy with the 4runner, and thankful I didn't get something else.
 
My 2007 4Runner also has same squeak noise from the rear seat. I think the hook is too loose. I will try to use the same method mentioned above.
 
I have an 07 Sport too and posted here about mine when I got it in October. Mine seems to be from behind or below the drivers seat and sounds like a bb bouncing off plastic or maybe a snappy creak. (best description I can think of) It only shows up in the morning or when temps are cold and I've banged and pounded on every surface and can not duplicate it.

I'm on a mission to find it but since it comes and goes I've learned to tune it out for now. I will be tearing up the interior to do some mods later so maybe then I will find the culprit.

A little disappointed with that but I guess it could be worse.
 
My 4Runner developed a rattle somewhere near the instrument panel / steering column area. Started about 10K miles. Can't seem to find and stop it. Since it's right in front of me when driving it is really annoying. BTW, my 06 GS 300 also has a rattle coming from the center console started around 10K miles.

Toyota quality is not what it used to be.
 
Interesting. So I'm not the only one.

I must admit though, that I'd still take my 4Runner over any near priced alternative. Especially my V8 4WD model.

I kinda wondered the same thing about plastic materials Toyota's using in interiors these days.

Anybody know if this a growing trend across the entire Toyota line ?

Hello,

No rattles or shakes here. This is the only vehicle that I have driven and owned that was quiet. The one rattle I did have was the Roof Rack Adjuster Knob. After tightening, it has been quiet since. Now, if I could get rid of the brake noise, I would be in heaven. :D

I noticed that myself, then finally realized that it was all the junk attached to my key rings...grocery store tags and such.
