Do you loose radio presets etc. when changing the battery

My new Odyssey battery is coming tomorrow. Every vehicle I have owned in the past lost all the radio presets, homelink settings etc. when the battery is disconnected. My neighbor has a 2015 Highlander and the battery went bad. It did not loose anything when the battery is changed. Can any one tell me what will happen to my 2014 4runner?

I didn't lose my radio stations or, more importantly, my seatbelt alarm delete last time I changed my battery. I wasn't particularly quick about it either.

Pretty sure you will lose it all man. Sorry. Homelink was always the biggest pain in the ass for me to reset.

I changed my battery about a month ago, the only thing I lost was the trip A and B mileage and the time. All my presets and home link worked just as before.

Have a spare 12volt battery lying around (power sports, generator, home alarm backup, ups, etc)? Use some alligator clip test leads to connect it to the battery cables to maintain voltage. Hell, you could probably use a 9volt battery, just don't turn on the ignition.

I can't speak to the homelink codes, as I don't use them.
Perhaps the length of time the battery is disconnected plays a factor. If you do it quickly you might be okay, but I don't know.

Just write them down or take a picture of them before you start, it's not like it too hard to reprogram them.

This^^^ or even a trickle charger / battery tender might help... to cover any model-year, any battery / CMOS / flash memory / back-up configuration the truck has.

Problem with this one is that the ignition must be left on the whole time due to the disconnect when it is off.

I ended up making one of these with some parts I had laying around. I have had a live 12v outlet that I wired directly to the battery terminal so I did not have to worry about leaving the key on. When I took the battery terminals off there was a relay or something ticking away in the box behind the battery with gave me a bad feeling but went away when I connected the new battery. I did not loose anything stored in memory during the swap.
