Do you really call it a truck?

Im just curious and bored, but when you refer to your 4runner, do you use the term "car" or "truck"? For example, if you were to finish these sentences, what would you say:

"OK, everyone get in the _______(car or truck)"
or
"I recently got a new _______(car or truck)"

Having owned cars in the past, the word "car" just seems to roll off my tongue when referring to the 4runner, however, I desperately try to say "TRUCK"!!!! (cause it really is).

for the same reason, i called it a car for about 8 months, then 'truck' just rolled off my toungue. Now i'm trying to force the word 'runner' because i have a strong dislike for trucks (pickup trucks that is)

I call it "the runner" most of the time. The other times I call it a truck. I don't call it a car because that would be insulting it! I really don't like calling it a truck because I picture a pickup in my head when saying that.

Runner

In our family it's referred to as "The Runner". While technically
more truck than car, we had a "truck" years ago and this is a "car" in comparison (ride, comfort, etc).

Its is known as "The runner" or the truck... I owned a camry so if I say car its putting the 4runner at that level and I dont want to do that to it. It might decide to flip over on me one day in anger or something.

Always call it a truck. Mainly because every vehicle I've owned were pick-ups (this is my first SUV) and I have never changed what I say. Besides that, there is no way it could be considered a car.

I call it a Truck. Sometimes dumbasses say something about it being a SUV. I feel that calling it "My SUV" is so cliche. To me its a truck, it has 4WD, a tow hitch and big tires... Sometimes the wifey calls it the "Yota"... but I often call it "ole Blue" just because!

I prefer "truck" over car, but my gf and parents usually call it a jeep because my parents used to have a JGC. I always tell them to not insult my "truck" like that.

We call it our "truck" or "Runner". Can't call it a car. Our Altima sits low, has smaller tires, and is only fwd. THAT's a car. Has anyone ever argued with people about this and have them tell you the 4Runner is nothing more then a jacked up station wagon? :bash: I have a few choice words for those people :moon: :rant:

That is the worse thing anybody can call my 4Runner. Whenever somebody call it that, I tell them that it can't be a Jeep because it is not on the back of a flatbed.

Call it a truck cause it is a truck. As we all know it’s built on a truck platform body on frame. Not all trucks have beds just like this 4runner. Pickup truck are trucks with beds. But nobody gets into those little details cause who really cares. Lol. Call it whatever you want. I personally say truck cause thats what it is. You could say suv since it is that too but there’s too many wimpy little crossover unibody suvs on the market now and the term suv used to be rugged and durable but now the term suv people think of the soccer mom in a Ford Escape. I agree with most, say runner or truck.

Well I never refer to any of our 4 runners (3rd 4th or 5th) as trucks. They can't do truck stuff and definitely don't drive like a real truck. They don't have the power of the truck or the size and force of nature that a truck has. Truck guys won't accept the little 4 runner into their truck culture and when a truck pulls next to you and want to flex well you know you aren't in their category. When they are next to my Tundra well they look like what they are "an suv"...
