Dobinsons 2.5" lift kit

Hey all,

I'm looking to possibly buy a Dobinsons 2.5" lift. I tried searching and it seemed very scattered so can I see some examples of the Dobinsons 2.5" lift and what size tires you have?

I've got the Dobinsons IMS lift with C302 front coils (2.5") and C725 rear coils (2.0" w/KDSS) and I'm on 255/80R17 tires (33.1" x 10")

I've got no rubbing, including some off-road fun.

I literally just found your 4runner in another thread and saved the pics because its perfect! Thanks for the specs! I don't think I'll go THAT nice of a Dobinson's kitbut damn that looks good. Hows it ride?

Thanks! The ride is excellent - took about 200 miles for the rear end to break in nicely, but now that is has I'd say it rides better than stock. Eats up bumps, almost zero nose dive, reduced body roll, and the tires are pretty quiet with great traction.

I just went out on BLM land and did some camping/wheeling this weekend. From filling up 1 mile from my house, putting on just over 200 miles (including wheeling/loaded truck/highway driving) I averaged 19.1 MPG - I've VERY happy I went skinny tires vs 285's, thinking that helped (they don't look THAT skinny on the truck, I was really concerned before install).

I only ordered this lift because of the great promo going on in February - I was considering going with the standard but the air compressors for those were already gone, and I was going to be dropping a few bucks for a compressor anyways. Plus being able to rebuild was a benefit for me long term / high mileage a year vehicle.

285/70 + Full skids (Everything steel except fuel tank and front) + Front bumper/winch + sliders + 150lbs of constant weight in the rear

Overall I'm still very pleased! There are a few things I would change, but nothing major. At this point I've got 43K on the lift/tires and have figured out all my wants needs. The shocks themselves ride the same as the day I installed them and show no signs of leaking or squeaks. Around 7K of those miles are on FS roads/trails.

1. I would go with the extended travel front shocks if I did it again. After adding a lo-pro bumper, winch, roof rack, and front skid - the front has settled a lot. I did take it apart and raise the spring perches to gain a lot of it back, but there's a limit of too much pre-load and diminishing returns.

2. The UCA's have been great! I'll recommend them to people day in and day out.

3. MPGs - these have dropped a bit, after the addition of mods. I did sit right around 19 MPG for close to 20K with the lift. I'm assuming a combo of winter driving/fuel, adding a roof rack, and having more stuff (front bumper/winch/skid). I'm sitting around 17-17.5 average. With skis and such on top it drops to 16.5-17. I'm seeing no real change when I have the RTT installed (Osprey Slimline).

4. Tire size - I did add 1.25" spidertrax spacers, that helped a lot and I've been happy with the look. When I get new tires I plan to get new wheels and also step it up to 285/75R17 (34" x 11.5"). This is where the extended travel shocks would have been nice. Depending on rub, I might need to get SPC's for the adjustability, but that's going to be a last case scenario.
