Does 5th Gen 4R have frame rust problem like 1st gen Tacoma had?

Probably stupid question, but after I moved from California to Snow&Salt weather region I know that now I need to take special care of my 1995 Tacoma regarding frame rust protection. Do I need to do that for 5th gen 4Runner too or I don't need to be concerned?

With the salt solution they use on the roads these days, it's imperative that you take some pre-emptive measures to ensure your vehicle doesn't become a rust bucket. Regardless of what type of car or truck you have, using a solution like Fluid Film regularly (annually) can go a long way to protect your frame from corroding. I've used it for 2 winters and I can tell you my frame is rust free.

Thanks God Fluid Film is available here (in Poland). As soon as the roads are washed (I mean after few days of rain :wink2 I'm going to clean both trucks and start working on Fluid Film. How much do I need per truck?

I use about 5 aerosol cans. I do a coat on the outside of the frame and I spray inside the frame using the drain holes on the frame. After I'm done, the frame has a wet look and smells like a goat. Dogs apparently love the smell, I see them sniffing the truck every time they pass! Make sure you DO NOT pressure wash the fluid film during winter months, you will remove the fluid film. All in all, I really think fluid film is an awesome product... I just wish I had known about it for my 3rd gen .

That being said above, the Tacomas were US built and the T4Rs are built in Japan. The corrosion treatment issue was domestic to North American production. If I'm wrong, I'm ready for the flaming

I used close to 5 cans as well. Maybe 4 and a half.
