Does anyone recognize this sound?? Mouse/tapping sound from inside?

Hello all,

I have a 2007 Limited v6 t4r with 120k miles and only recently, I have gotten a strange sound coming from behind the dash. I opened up the cabin filter but there's no sign that a mouse is there or got into the system, but I could be wrong.

Could someone possibly identify what this sound is coming from or what it could be?

The "auto" HVAC controls I think are getting old/confused. If I just want the fan on blowing outside air I normally hit auto, then hit the AC button to turn off the compressor. This seems to work OK most of the time and the fan will go up/down based on what I have the temp set at and the outside temp.

Lately, it's been pretty warm and if I do the same thing I think it's going into some kind of feedback loop mode. I can barely hear it over the fan but there's like a tapping/clicking coming from the center vent area, maybe below the radio. If I jack the temp down as low as it will go (taking the "auto" out of play) the noise seems to go away.

I have a "bird" instead of a mouse in the wife's van. There's some crazy squeak coming from the area of the rear shock towers. I recently put some new loaded shocks on the van so maybe I have a fastener/bushing that's wearing it's way in. There's also a pair of storage cubbies above the shocks that the wife packs full of junk. Maybe something in there is making a racket. I hate trying to track down these annoying little pops/cracks/rattles.

I'm almost a 100% sure it's one of the actuators for your HVAC. Sometimes it's clicking you'll hear, sometimes squeaking. Turn off all the HVAC including the recirculating button and see if it still makes the noise.

Is there a reason why the actuators do this?
Any fix for it?

there's a little motor that needs to be replaced that moves the vents to mix the air. As far as a reason for it, nope. I had my '13 Raptor for less that a month and the A/C went bad -- same noise, and they had to replace an A/C heater blend actuator.
