Does anyone want to chime in on these tire options?

Hey y'all! My Dobinson's kit is getting installed today (2" lift front, ~1.5" rear) and so next comes tires.

The second set listed below is a brand new, never mounted set of Duratracs I found for $700 on Craigslist. The first set is what I initially had decided on before coming across the Duratracs... I was leaning towards 255's to fill out the wheel well a little more and still avoid rubbing.

If you could get either of these tires for virtually the same price, which would you choose and why? The vehicle is my daily driver and will do light hunting trails, fire roads, and see some snow (Minnesota). Will the 265 fill out the wheel well nicely or be too small? Am I foolish to pass up Duratracs at that price?

Set 1:
255/70r18 - Falken Wildpeak AT3W: $172/tire

Set 2:
265/65r18 - Goodyear Duratrac (SL rating): $175/tire

WILDPEAKS for the win lol, jk I’m biased because I have a new set and love them. I’ve only taken them on some fire service roads and medium to shallow sand but they’ve done great, no issues. They are snowflake rated also.

Spend the extra money and buy them new from Discount with the certs. Worth every penny.

I can't find anyone with anything bad to say! Hence my indecision...

Spend the extra money and buy them new from Discount with the certs. Worth every penny.

Eh. Duratracs in the size listed through Discount Tire are $230/tire. That's a $55 difference. Only reason I'm interested in them is because I can get them for virtually the same price as the Falken's (albeit without any certs!)

The only thing bad I can say about either of the tires, is the Duratrac's are soft (too soft) and will wear out a lot faster.

Consider the Cooper ST MAXX in your desired size...I found them on tirerack.com for about $185/tire where the local outfits were charging $265/tire...Best tire I've ever had and I've tried them all from Hankook, Toyo, BFG, etc...

The Coopers I have are 10-ply and will not puncture like the Duratracs!

I don’t have a suggestion as to which to choose but it would be a good idea to check the date of manufacture on the used ones.

I have driven several tires in snow. Are you going to change over to snow tires in Winter or will these be your all year tire? If you're going to change over I would run with Geolanders' and switch to Nokians during Winter months. If you only go off road occasionally I would run Michelen Defenders or Pirelli Scorpions both are rated MS and I liked both of them for their superior performance.

I was able to purchase my wildpeaks

for less than $700 after discount and rebate.bought from tirebuyer

2/1" lift 265/70/17. Id make sure of the fitment of a the 255/80 b/c these things really do run big...
