does leaking ball joints equal about to fail, and if so how soon?

The boot was torn and cracked in several places, and there wasn't any grease inside. Not that the grease was gone, it was never there. It was dry.

I didn't want to warranty them out because if the company didn't bother to grease them and used rubber that cracked open in a few months, why should I trust the safety of my family and my rig on their crappy parts. Just my opinion. Everyone has their own.

Bahhh. I'm trying to figure out how to justify to myself not spending the money to get good parts. The cheap ones are like half the price, lol. It's been one thing after another lately, maintenance bills are starting to add up...

I totally understand. The toyota LBJ's are about $85 from camelback toyota and the autozone ones were $42.

However after you buy both your at $130. That is per side, so $260 total.

The job is really easy to do. I found a 3 jaw puller works really well on both the old LBJ and the outer tie rod end.

Do you have a lift and big tires? Do you wheel your rig?

Yeah it adds up. Recently did the timing belt, valve cover gaskets, rear axle seal and sway bar end links; it's starting to add up.

No lift yet. Planning one here in the next few months. I'm trying to take my time and slowly acquire used stuff. I haven't had it out on any trails yet, the wife and I are planning some camping/hiking/wheeling trips here in the next few months.
