does my warranty cover this?

Hey guys,

My front rotors are shot along with my brakes, my serpentine belt has cracks... and the car is at 45K miles...

now isnt this covered? I bought that all inclusive warranty, just wondering if this is included

All those things you described seem like "wear" items. Warranties don't usually cover them, but you never know until you ask. Check your warranty literature but I think it'll say the same. I have the 7yr/100K warranty myself.

You need brakes and rotors at 45,000 miles? When my 2000 4Runner Sport had 36,000 miles, the front brakes were only 20% worn and the rear drums were virtually brand new. How in the world do you drive that you would need new rotors at 45,000 miles? Do you drive with both feet - i.e. ride the brakes? Do you pull a trailer all the time? Do you just drive like a race driver? Driving hard or pulling a trailer might also explain the belt issue as well.

I sincerely doubt that Toyota would cover it as a warranty issue.

My dealership will do something about 1 year/12,000 miles on brakes or later if they fixed them previously. Agree with above posters that they are wear items, and usually not covered unless defective from factory.

You can buy a DIY book and save 2/3 of the money you'd shell out to the "professionals." All of those probs you listed could be done by a layman in less than an afternoon or six pack of beer, whichever comes first. If you have the aptitude and foresight to buy a 4Runner (which it appears you have), you have the prerequisite skills to do those maintenance items. dont feel bad i go through brakes once a year
i drive hard and 4runner's 03-up usually go through brakes quicker than 45000miles
do it your self learn your truck
i would bring the disc to a auto parts store or a gas station station they usually cut the rotors for about 20bucks unless they are warped
spend some time with your runner get to know each others im sure afterwards your understand each other better

when u drive in jersey, fight traffic like, dont have that sportsbike anymore, and tow a huge u haul trailer down to atl....

it's expected....

i gotta stop driving that thing like a sports car...

I just glanced through my platinum warranty and my regular warranty for my 06. In a nutshell... Not covered. These are considered normal wear items.

You mean the key for the wheel locks? Mine was in the glove compartment. Check your jack equipment too.
