Okay so I have run out of options for an exhaust. Can't do a custom exhaust because there isn't a shop within a reasonable distance of my house that will make one for me. So I am "giving up" and going to the Borla system. Here's my only problem. I can't find the system for 2002 4Runners. Plenty of places have the system for 1996-1999 4Runners but none for 2000-2002. The 5vz engine stayed the same all throughout out the 3rd generation's production, but I do know that some of the electrical systems were changed or added (VSC for 2001+, removal of manual kickdown cable, throttle and cruise control cables) but does any of this matter when it comes to a cat back exhaust? Why wouldn't that system (14659 is the part number) work on my 2002?
I can buy it right through the dealer, which I'm positive would be an exact fit, but it'll set me back $750 if I get it through them. Already found a place that will install any catback for $70 flat, I just need to find the damn thing at a reasonable price! I see numerous Borla systems online for the $550-600 range which is somewhat more reasonable, but can I buy the exhaust that "says" it will only fit on a 1996 to 1999? Thanks
