Does the '05 4R have any safety feature to reduce spinning?

Does the '05 4R have any safety feature to reduce spinning? I took off from the local do it yourself car wash and when I pulled out I floored it to downshift into 1st from a roll while it was in 2nd and it felt like it wouldn't go or bogged or something? I may have hit some water as the road may have been wet. Does something help keep you from spinning? I let off and tried again and it seemed fine and has ever since.

Was your steering wheel turned at the time?? If so, then it was probably VSC shutting you down. There should have been a light flashing on your dash indicating that you were slipping.

In addition, when the VSC is activated, you will hear this annoying beeping coming from the dash.

I thought I saw something flash, but I thought it was on the left side (Gas gauge and Temp side) It happened so fast I didn't know what happened! My wheels were straight I'm pretty sure and I was going about 15 mph.

It feels like the vehicle has no power, even when pushing on the gas. Once it recovers, full power is restored. Usually you will see a light (on the gas/temp side) flashing and you may hear a "Beep" or a sound like a clock is winding when it happens.

Thanks! It felt just as you described. No power and I saw a light flash by the temp/fuel gauge. I didn't hear any noise, but I had the CD player going and may not have heard it.

It's cool to feel the VSC attempt to, and then contol the vehicle when going around a broad curve on a dirt road at speed. We came around pretty fast on a dirt road in BB and just as soon as the wheels began to break traction, you hear the beep beep of the VSC and the rear of the Runner kicks back in where it belongs and you're on your merry way.

Computer control systems are amazing.:bowdown:

Manually shifting? No. I floored it so it would down shift on it's own at around a 10 mph roll.

You can disable VSC by going into 4WD and locking the center differential. ATRAC will always be on.

The sad thing is there is no way to defeat it even in a 2WD 4Runner. I find it more annoying than anything. You can push the "TRAC OFF" switch to the left of the steering wheel and spin the tires in a straight line. The instant the VSC systems detects any yaw (side to side motion) it kicks in and ends all the fun.

I would just like to be able to hang it out around a gradual corner on a back country dirt road now and then and play some in the snow.:dammit: The very few times we get it here in NC.

If we pull fuses to disable the system will the runner go into limp home mode??

Do the Tundras have the same systems and do they behave the same way as the 4Runner???
