Does the rear diff lock have its own breather?

Does the rear diff lock actuator have its own breather?

My rear diff lock is engaged and will not disengage. I'm reading online about taking it apart and rebuilding it. In one write-up, a guy mentions running "the breather" up alongside the diff breather.

Is the black pole-shaped thing at the top left a breather? If so, why does nobody talk about extending that breather, with all of the talk of extending the diff breather around here?? I feel duped

My 2000 and the 97 I got as a replacement whole axle had a breather tube but it extended about 2 feet) and connected on top of the rear drivers side frame rail. It had a little "tip" on it which I doubt anything could get into. Besides that, the locker doesn't create the suction when instant cooling occurs (like when the the dif gets sunk in water)

I have the same problem as shootermcgavin . I managed to unlock the rr diff lock by giving it a slight tap but I would like to fix it as I do some light offroading to get to my cabin I can't seem to find the darn writeups (after at least 1h looking everywhere) could anyone point me in the right direction please?

The breather is actually pretty long. Here is a picture of mine before install. The scissors are pointing to the breathing end.
