Does your car truck role when in Drive?

Does your car truck roll at idle when in Drive?

My 4runner does not roll forward when I put the car in drive and take my foot off of the brake (if i push the gas, yes the car punches forward). Is this normal? Every other car/truck that I have driven rolls at idle forward or backwards when in D or R? I am guessing that this is because the 3.0 v6 is not powerful? or is there something wrong with my truck?

it would help to know what year it is. but assuming that its the 3.0, its a gen2. I own two of them, and on both it seems that the e-brake cable is finiky. on my 93, the lever would be all the way in, the BRAKE light would turn off but i found out that it was still slightly engaged. the reason was that the cable was frayed and getting jammed right at the end of the handle shaft. you might want to check it out. another problem area is the e-brake assembly on the underside of the truck on the passenger side. check to make sure your spring is still intact and that you are able to pull the A lever towards the front of the truck (without the handle inside engaged). If both of those check out fine, I would start thinking torque converter .

Thank you for your reply. Yes, it is a 1994 4runner. The truck seems fine when I drive with full power so I am hoping that it is not a torque converter! If it is, what is the price to fix something like that?

I re-adjusted the e-brake cable under the truck and it is now moving. Thank you for your insight!
