Doh, got a nail in my tire!

Well I was washing my car with the intention of completely waxing it for the first time and noticed there was a nail in one of my tires. I put some soapy water over it and it started bubbling. It sucks I have to replace the damn thing, I don't think I can plug it because it's in the sidewall. I've only had the 4Runner for a little over 5k and the tire is pretty much brand new.

Now I'm in a predicament. Should I replace the flat with the same Dunlop AT20 tires or get a better tire. I figure the next time I have to replace a tire, I'll get another of the same better tire and replace the tires on one axel. Let me know if that's a bad idea...

Also suggestions on better tires would be good too.

I had the exact same thing happen to me. I had a nail in the sidewall at about 6k and just replaced that one tire. I rotate my tires about every 4k so they are in great shape.

If you like the tires, I would just replace the one and wait until you need a new set to change out completely.

Well at least it was a nail and not a stupid thumb tac. The exact same thing happened to me. The thumb tac punctured the side wall. My 4Runner only had 3k on it. I was furious !!! But, I just bought a replacement Dunlop at Tirerack and had it mounted at the dealer for $12.

Once they start to wear pretty bad I'm definitely replacing them with the Revo's !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Soon than later I hope !!!!!!!!!
