Doing my LBJ's tonight, need confirmation

All, first - I have tried searching. I really have... but I can't seem to find confirmation on this and my eyes are starting to cross skimming through the various LBJ threads. So I apologize for being that guy to start another...

I ordered my LBJ's and bolts from toyotapartsdeal per my VIN. With the vin, they've provided the bolt 90105-10505 in that:
Production Date: 09/2000-03/2001
Fitting Vehicle Options: VZN18#

Tonight I plan to replace my driver CV and may as well tackle the LBJ's now that they have finally arrived this afternoon.

I've read through the mighty90's writeup on bolts and watched Timmy's video a few times and I don't see specific torque specs for 90105-10505.

Does anyone know what the torque specs are for this bolt?

Am I safe to torque to the lower spec of 37ft lbs while using blue242 out of fear of over torqueing to 59?

I'll try and call a dealer service dept and see if they can confirm but figured I would try my luck here first.

Thank you all in advance.

Not trying to speak for him, but Timmy states he feels the FSM is wrong on the 37ft lbs. others have agreed in other threads that I have read being that the bolt both flanged and the one with the washer is a grade 11 bolt which is safe to be torqued upwards of 70 ft/lbs.

I have an 01 and when I ordered bolts they sent the bolts with washers and I torqued them to 59 ft/lbs.

I’ll post a link to the thread that put my mind at ease.

The FSM isn't wrong at 37ft-lbf. It's just incomplete and causes a lot of confusion. The 37ft-lbf is only for the 01-02 models which have dust covers and use a bolt with a washer. For 96-00 without the dust covers and use a flange bolt, the correct torque is 59ft-lbf.

Thanks, yeah I read through all of Timmy's description as well and was alarmed when I did not see 90105-10505 listed there.

Parts dept at the local dealer wasn't a ton of help...

He said 80NM without the 'dust protector' and 50NM with the dust protector which basically brings me back to 37 vs 59...

I am going to pick up the parts in a few minutes, so I can't say for certain if they have the protectors on them or not - I was under the impression that this was just a flanged bolt however.

Thanks. At the end of the day, regardless of part # confusion is this the standard rule?

59 without the dust shield and 37 with?

59 without the dust shield and 37 with?
90080-10066 flanged bolt 59 lb/ft 96-00 without dust cover
90119-10933 bolt with washer 37 lb/ft 01-02 with dust cover
If you don't have the dust covers or don't plan on using them then either bolt will be fine. Blue loctite is recommended by most people for reassurance that they won't back out especially the lower torque value bolts.

EDIT: Since you have a different part number than what I've listed use 59 lb/ft if the bolts are flanged or 37 lb/ft if the bolts have a washer on them.

Correct. And don't use the flange bolts with the dust shield. The flange bolts are shorter and may not have enough thread engagement with the added thickness of the dust shield. The flange may also damage the dust shield when tightening since it will rotate with the bolt and may tear it while the washer shouldn't.

Here is my question. I ordered a ball joint kit form a Toyota dealer on ebay.

Link to the auction: Toyota Tacoma 2001-2004 4x4 3.4L Front Lower Ball Joint Set & Bolts Genuine OEM | eBay

There are two different part numbers for the mount bolts that are included in the kit. They are 90105-10505 and 90119-10933. They give you 4 of each. So am I safe to use the 90080-10066 flanged bolt to mount the ball joint where the are no dust cover holes and to use the 90119-10933 bolt to mount it where the dust cover mount holes are at. This means I will be using two different part numbers on each ball ball joint, Do you think this is right? Or did I receive the wrong mount bolts? Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't believe that Tacoma LBJ's are interchangeable with 4Runner LBJ's. I do know that they have different part numbers. I guess my answer is to not worry about the bolts because the LBJ's won't work for you anyway.

Tacoma LBJ's are different. They are designed with tacoma tie rod ends so the taper/bore/depth for the tie rod end attachment is incorrect. The tacoma steering stops also limit how far you can turn compared to the 4Runner LBJ's

If your car takes the flange bolts which get torqued at 37 ft/lb, isn't better to upgrade to the stronger bolts which torque at 59 ft/lbs? or they won't fit?

This thread should answer all your questions about that. The short answer is that the flange bolts get the higher torque and the bolts with washers get the lower torque. It is the dust covers that make the difference, and you need to use the correct bolts and torque based on whether or not you have dust covers on your lower ball joints.
